Elliot Anderson | Opening bid rejected (p189)

All the talk about City being concerned over the transfer fee for Anderson seems to have originated with a single ESPN article. I would be very surprised if City weren’t acutely aware of Forest’s price tag for some time.
Because it's City the price will have been inflated. They've no doubt remembered that we paid £100m for Grealish a few years ago so think we probably wouldn't flinch at £120.

I don't rate Anderson that highly personally, but then it's not my money or my decision.

I'd much prefer Wharton to Scott, and I'd prefer we keep Rodri to either honestly. I really hope he's not going.
Doesn't sound too hopeful from what he was saying in his presser yesterday:

'Manchester City midfielder Rodri insisted he would only think about his future after the World Cup, amid links with a switch to Real Madrid this summer.'

"We’re here to talk about the World Cup. Everything that concerns my future, I’ll wait until the end of the World Cup. When a player is nearing the end of his contract, it’s normal for names to come up but I am very calm, I know where I stand and if there hadn’t been a World Cup, perhaps things might be different now.”

Not sure what he meant by that last sentence but it seems to suggest to me that if he hadn't been away with the World Cup squad he would have already made his decision to go; why else would things be different unless he was leaving for another club? Besides, if he's not going anywhere why not just say so?

That’s a bit like saying Brandon Barker was better than Nolito or whoever.

Totally unproven as of yet.
At that time I was watching the lads pretty regularly in the flesh (oo-er), he was tearing up teams and really should have been given a few first team minutes.

Some players can snatch the chance, he seemed to perhaps understandably lose a bit of heart not getting a break.

Hopefully part of an agreed dance between khaldoon and their chairman. First bid rejected so he gets more so it looks like he drove a better bargain for the club and the fans.
Or the bid was nowhere near the valuation he wants . We wil have to pay near the value they want as a low ball offer will not work . Barring any shocks this deal is done .
