ELO

They were the first band I followed in my formative years, still get a thrill when I see the cover of "Discovery" saved up my money and played it until my stylus cut through the grooves on the record and I had to use it as a slinky instead.

"Out of the Blue". Your classic '70s double album. I remember getting it on blue vinyl (ask your parents!). Still got it somewhere around here.

You just don't understand....... you are either too young or you were listening to the Goombay Dance Band instead ;-)

I used to love ELO. Livin' Thing was the first single I bought. Regret never having seen them live. I really liked Rock Aria and often played this as loudly as I could. (I was a one in those days!) Other tracks I liked included: Do Ya!, The diary of Horace Wimp, Telephone Line, Here is the news, Calling America, Turn to Stone, Wild west hero, Sweet is the night, and Latitude 88 north.

As much as I loved the new music in the late 70's there was always one established band that always did it for me.

Electric Light Orchestra.

Accomplished and supreme.

Anyone else like them?

You are strangely tapping into my frontal vortex (whatever that is) these days. Sharon!

I was shopping on Amazon last week, and just couldn't resist snaffling up ELO's Greatest Hits on Marketplace.

It's big time Dad Rock, but I really love the naff indulgence of it. The first singleI bought was Sweet Talkin' Woman.

Am I Alan Partridge?
