It seems the Guardian wants certain things cancelled, they didn't get it, so they cancelled themselves..

It does seem a bit of "I cannot win so I'm taking my ball home" and coming just after the Trump win it looks utterly childish. However, I think the Guardian news reporting is probably the most reliant but it is let down by it's very obvious biases and not a patch of the paper it once was. I've never used Twitter or Facebook but, similar to most forums, it seems it's dominated by angry posters trying to force everyone to their political view by abuse rather than debate.

There seems to be quite a significant move to withdraw from Twitter since the election, and since Musk was given a US govt role (or a prospect of). Organisations, celebrities, quite a broad range. I think it's just a convenient break point - Twitter use has changed noticeably since Musk took over, and more notably in the past 6 months as he's gone in with Trump.

I think the barrage of propaganda and lies that is now seen, as the algorithm has clearly been tweaked to favour the right-wing stuff and whatever Musk's conspiracy of the week happens to be, some of it graphic in the extreme and equally much is lies or misrepresented.

Additionally, some have complained about the type of material that has been attached to or appears alongside their posts - Disney, Apple, Comcast have stopped advertising because their ads appeared with pro-Nazi stuff, etc.
NPR have dropped it because Twitter started claiming state-affiliation on some media.

His algorithm is open sourced. You are served content you engage with the most. Infact pre takeover social media were biased towards left wing taking orders from govt on censoring stuff. You will atleast now hear stuff directly from leaders than being showed selective mis interpreted content .

It’s not. The huge adverts are beyond annoying and the bots and porn bots also make conversing nigh on impossible.

Each to their own, but I suspect a lot will vote with their feet.

I don't engage with violent beatings, stabbings, peado hunters, anti muslim rhetoric, anti LGBQT etc etc, i scrolled endlessly as fast as i could when i saw it was any of them clips - finally took its toll and i come off it. shame as before was a great place for my hammers content, music and breaking news.

I don't engage with violent beatings, stabbings, peado hunters, anti muslim rhetoric, anti LGBQT etc etc, i scrolled endlessly as fast as i could when i saw it was any of them clips - finally took its toll and i come off it. shame as before was a great place for my hammers content, music and breaking news.

Once the big accounts migrate somewhere else, most normal people will follow, leaving the fetishists for the stuff you list above on X.

Yeah, it’s totally up to the owners of the site.

Up until recently, I had no issue shaping what I saw, but it’s impossible now and the bot replies stifle any sort of conversation and the new massive adverts make it a truly dreadful experience.
