I don't really have an opinion to be honest, I don't see any benefit to colonising Mars but if we are to only view everything in the cold light of day then what is the point in humans going to space at all?

Human advancement has never come from saying something is impossible.

There’s no need to travel to Mars to work out if terraforming is theoretically possible.

If it isn’t, then shuttling to Mars is purely tourism.

Not just that, but an item that will have no resale value. They say you lose 10% of its value the second you drive it off the lot. How much is that going to be now for a Tesla? How much is the insurance going to be? There were already reports long before this year of insurance for Teslas going up massively. I also read some people talking about how it shares driving data and then uses that to determine insurance costs in some American states.

Probably but then one threat to this planet is climate change which is only going to get worse and now we're seeing people advocating setting fire to electric cars over a guy that they don't know and will never meet. Such is the human race.

Personally I'd rather us go to Mars and fail than continue the current trajectory on this planet which is only self-destructive.

Do you think it will be any different once on mars, unfortunately the human race is always destined to destroy itself, it’s just a question if time, whether nuclear weapons, fucking up the climate or maybe something catastrophic say a man made virus, I reckon we have 150 years max. Unless this orange gibbon does something monumentally stupid it could be sooner.

Like I said before I don’t have an opinion on Mars colonisation. I think it’s a good idea to try and go there at least because why not? SpaceX are doing more than anybody else to get us there anyway.

Colonisation is a different problem which probably will never happen but we’re not even going anyway. We haven’t even got there let alone decided to stay so I don’t know why folk on here are getting so excited.

I mean going off the boring farts on here why are we bothering to go to space at all? Clearly we should focus on more important things to civilisation such as politics…
