Elon Musk

Imagine having that amount of money and not wanting to use a tiny fraction to actually help people, but to boost nefarious grifters.
He's treating humanity as a real life version of The Sims.

His mond sees it all as a video game where he always wins and that's all that matters.

I would slap a charge of inciting rascial tenssion under the public order act and the first time he sets foot here or any crown dependancy arrest the ****, trial him and bang the fucker up for the maximum 10 years.

No human should have that amount of money and associated power. It’s not good for them, and it’s certainly not good for everyone else.
especially not a saffa whose dad was an apartheid loving racist, wife cheating, step daughter shagging ****.

Anyone brpught up in that society with that parentong then moving to the land of the gulible and consumerism was always gonna be a danger to the world

That amount of money would turn anyone into a ****, but he definitely had a head start!

There are some parallels in the dilemma we have around Musk (and others) and those we have with terror networks. Though the nature of the threat each represents to society is different, some of the ethical and moral dilemmas about how we respond to them are similar.
In the case of immensely rich and powerful people like Musk, the practical complexity of enforcing legal frameworks to constrain them are such that the easier thing to do would be to arbitrarily detain them but to do so would go against the principles of natural justice that underpin our society.

We are in totally new territory.

We are in totally new territory.

Completely agree and at many levels.

The nation state as the core unit of power is on its arse and you can see governments increasingly becoming a revolving door of middle managers whose primary role is simply to manage the population. Not even sure if we aren't already past the point of no return on this, going to take something extraordinary to reverse the trend.

I suppose the real game changer will be if there’s a shift in miItary power from state to private hands.

I think so and I think we're in 'it's not dark yet but we're getting there' territory.

Obviously some western oligarchs have the means to raise private armies now but I suspect don't feel any need to risk overplaying their hand at this point.

I think Musk's Starbase City will tell us a lot. Currently the county's sheriffs dept are providing law enforcement there via designated officers. How he seeks to run that model going forward will be revealing I think.
