Email address to complain to city?

Why dont they just smoke on the spirals where its open and the smoke can clear off? Then I can have a piss without the bogs being congested. Also im not a smoker so dont know but its 90minutes + 15 half time really long to go without a cig? cant you use some nicotine gum or something

Get a grip smokers and leave our toilets alone, why should my kid have to go through that dense smoke every game. Your all so selfish!! Would you lot put your kid into a car seat with .no seat belt.mm no

All kids should be in the family stand anyway.... no-one smokes in the toilets there..

This. I was in the family stand last night and there was nobody fagging it in the bogs.
We had a nice schmoke on the spirals though.

Did the op take his kid out of school early for the match???

The e-mail from Mr fletcher I received......

Mr

Thank you for your e-mail.

We are aware of the issues in the toilets around the stadium and it is addressed at every game. Unfortunately the scale of the problem means that we have not enough resources to address every toilet at every game.

We cannot use uniformed stewards to address this and the police will not get involved as the enforcing agency is the Local Authority. I have requested that they assist in enforcing the regulations on a number of occasions but they have so far refused as they do not have sufficient resources to deal with it.

I do employ undercover operatives at every game to identify people smoking in toilets and we average about 15 ejections per game, All of which receive a minimum three match ban. I will not use uniform stewards to enter toilets at busy periods as the toilets are already congested and if there was to be any confrontation it is likely that, in a confined area, people may get injured.

We will continue to enforce the smoking ban but do acknowledge that it is unsatisfactory.

Regards

Peter Fletcher

Wrong person to e-mail we all know fletcher is a clueless spineless tosser but on this occassion he is totally the wrong person to contact

you should be contacting the local authority directly and pointing out they have failed to keep their duty of care to the non-smoking fans at the etihad and you will consider legal action if this failure is not addressed

or like me you can just pick on a smoker each game and give them a choice
put the fag out or I will punch you in the mouth no one yet as not put the fag out when I have asked

Great idea. Get the ground shut down.

And if you said that too me i'd cry to a copper and get you nicked for threatening behaviour or assault. Breaking someones jaw is much much worse than blowing a bit of smoke near somebody.

if they made the side railings in the bogs at 121 a bit further apart we could queue up to stick our heads through em and be technically smoking outside which is legal innit?

Lol bang on the money, I'd ban them for life, fuck em, we are a top side now they'll sell those seats on no problem.

City are a forward thinking community friendly club.

*proud*

Haha get over yourself go sip tea in church. I don't smoke in the toilets but moaning people like you get right on my nerves smokers keep doing it some people should get a life[/quote]

i have a life thank you and i'd like to keep it, smokers shorten my chances of a long life.

the sooner cigs are outlawed completely the better, just stop production of them, that'll sort it.

lol, can you imagine all the addicts going cold turkey? funny as fuck.

Wow, 14 pages later... I guess I should have expected such a response to such a hot topic, but as I said (and also in response to those who queried why I didn't just got to mcfc.co.uk to look up the details) all I wanted was to discover the correct avenue to complain to, and if anyone here had experience having brought the matter up themselves in the past, all the better.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed. I really hope the club can do something positive here.

I'm got going to get on a moral high horse and say people shouldn't smoke - there's enough info and studies out there for people to make up their own minds. But smoking in the stadium toilets is clearly not on, it's actually against the club rules and it really spoils the match experience for far too many people.

Most match going City fans who are smokers don't go off smoking in the toilets, they understand that it's not permitted. It's a small minority, say 200 people approximately I woudl guess, no more, out of over 40,000 who regularly expose others to passive smoke, claim certain toilet blocks as they own (which is just ridiculous, frankly - do you think that lad and his dad knew these 'rules' about which block to sit in when they booked their seats?). Now, we know that more than 200 but of 40,000 City fans smoke regularly, so it really is just a few people doing this.

In response to the poster who queried whether it was such a critical issue for the club, and felt my view that it was a key issue for a forward thinking club to tackle, I politely disagree. Manchester City Football Club should strive for excellence in every single area of the fans experiences of the club, from match day to club shop, from membership schemes to Junior Blues. I feel there is a wariness, or maybe a blind eye being turned by the club, in dealing with this issue. I also truly believe that a high profile non nonsense campaign would kill the issue dead in weeks. Six month bans for a first offence, lifetime for a second, and advertise it like mad everywhere, in terms and conditions, website, posters, in time for the new season. I truly believe that would have a positive effect. We go there for City, for the football.

If people want to debate this here more then go for it. My aim is purely to take this up with the correct people at the club and get them to stamp it out. Nobody can argue that smoking in the toilets is justified, everyone who doe sit knows they run a risk of a ban and ejection. So maybe the deterrent is not enough. If I get anywhere with the club I'll post back, thanks to everyone who contributed in some meaningful way.

Ultimately, if somehow we can get just one person to think again about smoking in the toilets by raising the problem and discussing it, then that is something. Cheers.

There's more than that in the 111 toilets alone!

What did you folks do back in the day when you could smoke on the terraces/at your seat?
