Why arn't we going for Steve Harper or Scott Carson?

Both Newcastle and West Brom are up and guarenteed the position they are in now with just the one game to go. Plus gives them both experience in big Premiership games for next season.

Surely both clubs could be persuaded with first option on loan/ signing our fringe players next season, plus abit of money!
Championship keepers at best thats why. no thanks. would want some with lots of prem experience e.g. james

Yeah mate, but it's not a time where we can pick and choose who we want. James has an FA Cup final to think about and is hardly going to risk his place in the Pompy side by moving to another club just before it.

The two keepers mentioned have played all season, and although have only been playing in the championship are in form and have kept many clean sheets this season.

Harper has made over 80 appearences in the Prem as well as a few in the Champs League and Carson has made over 100 in the Prem as well as a few in Europe. That would do me for experience if we could get one of them!

Re: Re, harty and loan

Yeah but surely we could say look if you keep Hart for 3 games it is not going to make much difference for you.Send him back to us and we will let you have first refusal on a couple of players in the summer after we've finished buying. It would be well worth it for us because we need the best keeper we can get for the last 3 games and Joe is the best one available.

surely it would be logical if we were to bring another keeper in other than Joe he would be backup for Gunnar as he has been training with the squad all season and if they think he's not up to it why did we sign him in the first place
I think you are right bluejim1. Why is Gunnar at the club if we cannot call on him to play when needed. I reckon whoever we get will be sat on the bench as back up to him.

Don't know if it's already been said but it's amazing that population of the Faroes is 50,000 and Gunnar makes his debut at Arsenal in front of 60,000 in one stadium. No pressure hey.

SONG FOR GUNNAR (to the tune of nancy sinatra)

HE CAME IN WITH CITY SIXTH
TO FILL THE VOID BEWTWEEN THE STICKS
HE WORE GREEN AND I WORE BLUE
THE MAN FROM FAROES WE LOVE YOU

BANG BANG HE SHOT YOU DOWN
BANG BANG YOU HIT THE GROUND
BANG BANG THAT MAGIC SOUND
WHEN GUNNAR SHOT YOU DOWN

(everybody bounce about going do do do do do do dod do)

sorry folks I'll get my coat..........................................

What a joke. Thats almost identical to the song I posted in the Nielsen thread minutes after he made his debut.

Re: Re, harty and loan

Birmingham would be stupid not to take advantage of the situation. If it's possible for us to get Joe back then they should be negotiating like mad to get him on another season long loan. Bear in mind that the prize money drops or rises for every place in the Premiership so it could make a difference to the £££££££ they recieve at the end of the season.

Re: Re, harty and loan

Hart should have walked straight into the Managers office and demanded to come back first thing this morning.

If he had done that how could Birmingham have risked playing him again this season?

or maybe hart dosen't want to come back that much ?

Re: Emergency keeper loan [Merged]

Gunnar's trained, lived and travelled with the first team all season. He knows them inside and out, their characteristics, the tactics etc.

A new goalkeeper would come in fresh, unable to have the knowledge Gunnar has. Not wanting to belittle each players individual skills, but a goalkeeper is a goalkeeper. They are up to a certain standard, and can do the business. It's the relationship and understanding between the goalie and defenders that makes the difference. Any other new keeper, even Joe Hart, wouldn't have as good a connection as Gunnar.

In Gunnar we trust.

Re: Martin Fulop to be our temporary keeper!?!?!?!

Will he be as hungary for success as Gunnar or will our hopes be shot and him fulop?

Re: Emergency keeper loan [Merged]

City have agreed to sign Algeria's goalkeeper Faouzi Chaouchi on loan until the end of the season with an option to move here in the summer for £8 million euros. He is flying in tomorrow for a medical. Sorry I don't know much about him but he had an option to sign for Marseille in the summer but has turned it down for City.
