End of Season Party vs Arsenal?!

Deserves a respectful send off. Unfortunately, I think he'll only get it if we avoid a twatting by Le Arse.

I think his tenure has been a mixed bag. The first year was so full of promise and he steadied a horribly rocky ship. It just never took off from there. Agreed he has taken us further in Europe, but outside of this year, he displayed some real tactical naivete in the CL. Remember that last year we barely scraped through the group stage and needed luck winning the group this year. So I believe he's certainly done better than Bobby, but he's not streets ahead.

All in all, he's won us 3 trophies (so far) and I'll always be grateful for that. Could he have done better?
I say that was a pretty well balanced assessment. Maybe he could have done better but he could have done a lot worse and ended up where Chelsea are after Mourinho.

Wonder if the mods would mind if we started another thread - one where we can show some class and allow the match going fans to discuss how we act at the Arsenal game. It is them that should be having that specific discussion.

We can rename this one something to do with slagging the manager off where the same old posters can continue their repetition.

Not saying that people should not bang on and vent their angst - but cannot one thread be spared?

Okay mate, here's what he's done that deserves clapping:

Won the league, the league cup x 2 got us the furtherst we've ever been in the Champions league

On top of that he's managed the biggest bunch of uninspired lazy bunch of Prima-donnas we've ever seen at City. He has done all this despite the entire squad being ravaged by injuries constantly and for a ridiculous amount of time. This season alone the squad has had 69 different injuries.

He has done all that without being allowed to set up his own identity within the team, he has done all the above whilst knowing that no matter what he did, no matter how well he does, no matter what he was leaving, a stop gap. The equivalent of a footnote in the history of City's meteoric rise to the top. Nothing but a body to steady the storm left by Mancini in the back.

He has done all the above whilst being hobbled by FFP allowing the team to Stagnate, (Which no-one even bothers to mention any more when asking why this squad is so aged and decrepid. No, it's much more convenient to blame the corpse in charge.) He has done all the above despite all the cunts on here calling him things I would be honestly surprised to read on RAWK or Ragcafe, let alone here about one of our own.
He has done all the above in the face of adversity from constant corrupt officials, no help from the FA, no help from anyone all whilst being calm, pleasant and in control.

He has done all the above whilst being completely hung out to dry by the very players he has put all his trust into the past few years whilst he's been here. Pellegrini has always been a great man-manager that relies on the players to deliver after he puts trust in which approximately none of them have other than one. I see everyone has forgotten just how well Willy played in the LC fina purely because of how Pellegrini handled that situationl? Of course we have because Bluemoon has the collective attention span of a toddler with ADHD in the middle of Times square.

Another thing he's put up with City fans constant fucking moaning. He's put up with nothing this year other than "Why doesn't he play the full strength team every week the senile ****?" "Why is he running Kevin De Bruyne and aguero into the ground? How dare he play them every week" He can't win. The double standards a lot of the "fans" are showing recently are disgusting and I can't believe I've put this much effort into typing a response that you nor anyone else will bother to read because that's exactly the problem with this site. But why should we expect Pellegrini to care any more when so many have already turned our backs on him, all the while mocking Arsenal, United & everyone else for how tempremental they are, and how is he repaying our dispicable treatment of him? delivering a trophey, still well in the fight for top 4 and in the CL Semi-final with a very good chance of going through.

That's why he deserves a clap. But by all means, act like the spoilt toddler you are because he politely refused to sign an autograph for a child on one occasion.
Lol

Seems a nice man. But for all his achievements, given what he has had available to him to ensure that we excelled, they should simply be preceded by the word "under".

Thank you-some sense. Great post fella.

I what way was last season a backward step from 12 /13 ?

in 2013 /14 season we finished with 86 points
In 2014 /2015 season we finished with 79 points
The maximum number of points we can achive this season is 70.

And during this time he has invested hundreds of millions of pounds in the squad.

Please explain how this is taking the team forward. I really am all ears.

Not seeing the problem everyone can cheer and clap him no matter what side of the fence you are on. The motives for cheering can be personal to the individual.

It's quite frankly irrelevant whether he was a stop gap manager or not. He was given a 3 year deal and has seen out his contract. It is a rare occurrence that a manager will see out his deal in this day and age and even if Pep wasn't coming in, he has done absolutely nothing to suggest he should get an extension. If I'm being honest, the only thing that has kept him in a job this season is the fact that Pep is coming.

During his tenure he has been given the likes of Otamendi (La Liga team of the Year), Mangala (a CB who was linked with all of the top clubs), Sterling (European Golden Boy), De Brunye (German player of the Year) along with the likes of Negrado, Fernandinho and Navas etc. The best part of £300 million has been spent under his reign and you say that he hasn't been able to set up his own identity. Personally I'd say that he has set up his identity here, a team that is boring, slow and a shambles defensively.

Domestically this season has been an utter shambles and Pellegrini has had an extremely easy ride from the media. Here are some little facts that might suggest why some City fans do not rate him.

Out of the top 8 sides only Southampton have lost more games than us.

Chelsea have only lost one more game than us this season and they have been the laughing stock for the majority of the campaign.

We have lost by at least a two goal margin on 6 occasions this season. Whilst conceding 3 or more against Liverpool twice, Spurs, Leicester and Southampton.

We have only won 1 game against the top 8 out of a possible 13.

We failed to score at both Villa Park and Carrow Road.

We threw the FA cup.

It is patently obvious in his first season here that we struggled against teams who pressed us high and were direct. Three years later and another £200 million spent and we still have exactly the same problem.

Pellegrini had the chance to build something here. Even if it was for three years only, he could have laid the foundations for Pep. The biggest criticism that I can give him and it sums up his reign here is that he will be leaving the club in a worse position than when he took over it. The fact that he could win the CL and a lot of people would still want rid of him speaks volumes.

So are you actually advocating he has taken us forward?

I don't need to advocate anything because ultimately I don't view things in simplistic black and white terms. Clearly we've made HUGE strides in the CL since the days of getting embarrassed by minnows like Ajax in the group stages (I won't mention that we actually were dumped out of the Europa league by Sporting Lisbon). This season in particular we finished top of a group which included last season's finalists and last season's Europa League winners. The league campaign this season has been appalling to say the least. But that's as much about the players as it is the manager. Too many have convinced themselves everything is the manager's fault and now can't seem to step away from that and view things even remotely objectively.

We'll never know for sure, but judging by our collective performances in both competitions I'd say it's pretty obvious to me that there was enough of a difference in the performances that the word was coming from higher up. Otherwise how do you explain the different intensity levels the different levels of tactical discipline etc. If it's purely the players who've decided this then some of them, including some of our stars, should be fucked off.

Personally I think with two PL titles in three years but little European progress it would be natural to assume an ownership like ours would want to see some European success now too. I also think that the ownership aren't stupid enough to assume that the 'squad' is good enough. We have a best XI to rival anyone, but anytime you need a bit of rotation we end up with players like Kolarov, Delph, Bony, etc.

For the moment the conversation is moot. United didn't win yesterday so we still have things in our own hands. Confidence or lack of it is subjective amongst us. I'm STILL confident that we will get past Madrid and then beat Arsenal. The players will know that that win secures CL football. And it won't be our B team out against Arsenal.
Our worst performances haven't come either side of CL games either so it totally nullifies your argument.

Some of our stars should be fucked off, just like the manager is being fucked off. The reason we have done well in the CL is because that has always been the time when he has picked the team and formation that the majority of supporters have been crying out for in league matches. But instead, in the league he continues to play Bony, play Delph on the left, or a two man immobile midfield or picking fucking MD.

Pellegrini has prioritised CL as he knew he was off next season and he wished to pursue his own agenda and further his CV.
