End of Season Party vs Arsenal?!

The previous manager never got out of the CL group stage. Pellegrini has the same trophy record as the previous manager and come Wednesday night could be 90 minutes away from the European cup. Backwards my arse.
Kind of speaks volumes when you compare both Mancini and Pellegrini's starting point at City.

I'm always confident.

I also dont spend my days thinking the rags will win everything under the sun and i look at the situation we find ourselves in and say yup, we are clear favourites with it in our own hands.
Then you're more often than not wrong aren't you when we play teams in the top 8 this season.

We have done nothing this season to suggest we will beat Arsenal.

Fucking hell, you've really put me on the ropes with this Oscar Wilde level retort.
It's quite frankly irrelevant whether he was a stop gap manager or not. He was given a 3 year deal and has seen out his contract. It is a rare occurrence that a manager will see out his deal in this day and age and even if Pep wasn't coming in, he has done absolutely nothing to suggest he should get an extension. If I'm being honest, the only thing that has kept him in a job this season is the fact that Pep is coming.

During his tenure he has been given the likes of Otamendi (La Liga team of the Year), Mangala (a CB who was linked with all of the top clubs), Sterling (European Golden Boy), De Brunye (German player of the Year) along with the likes of Negrado, Fernandinho and Navas etc. The best part of £300 million has been spent under his reign and you say that he hasn't been able to set up his own identity. Personally I'd say that he has set up his identity here, a team that is boring, slow and a shambles defensively.

Domestically this season has been an utter shambles and Pellegrini has had an extremely easy ride from the media. Here are some little facts that might suggest why some City fans do not rate him.

Out of the top 8 sides only Southampton have lost more games than us.

Chelsea have only lost one more game than us this season and they have been the laughing stock for the majority of the campaign.

We have lost by at least a two goal margin on 6 occasions this season. Whilst conceding 3 or more against Liverpool twice, Spurs, Leicester and Southampton.

We have only won 1 game against the top 8 out of a possible 13.

We failed to score at both Villa Park and Carrow Road.

We threw the FA cup.

It is patently obvious in his first season here that we struggled against teams who pressed us high and were direct. Three years later and another £200 million spent and we still have exactly the same problem.

Pellegrini had the chance to build something here. Even if it was for three years only, he could have laid the foundations for Pep. The biggest criticism that I can give him and it sums up his reign here is that he will be leaving the club in a worse position than when he took over it. The fact that he could win the CL and a lot of people would still want rid of him speaks volumes.

Otamendi & mangala are two victims of Circumstance. If they were part of an established back 4 with fullbacks that weren't both useless they'd be a lot more assured.

You say it's irrelevent that he was a stop-gap but that's just fucking stupid. I'm done being coy. Get your head out of your arse. Why would Txiki let him build his own dynasty only to allow pep to tear it down?

All these stats mean nothing, in fact quite the contrary, if we're playing so shit surely that's a testiment to Pellegrini's handling of the situation.
We threw the FA Cup because we had no choice. As Pellegrini keeps saying but you fuckers don't listen, we have been acctively hobbled repeatedly by the governing body of the football in this country, no help with re-arranging the schedule repeatedly, shoddy officials and basically contempt from everyone in the organisation. Besides I thought you people wanted more Youth players?

Oh sorry I forgot, that's only when we're 4-0 up and safe. OH WAIT NO! It should be to prove to the old guard that they are replacable. Once again so many of you flip flop faster than the french.

He has no had the chance to build anything. He was chucked in with what he had and was told to win stuff. Which he has done by the way only for the entire playing roster to fuck him over and hang him out to dry with no care in the world.

in 2013 /14 season we finished with 86 points
In 2014 /2015 season we finished with 79 points
The maximum number of points we can achive this season is 70.

And during this time he has invested hundreds of millions of pounds in the squad.

Please explain how this is taking the team forward. I really am all ears.

this pattern would suggest we are going backwards at an Alarming Rate, the cup win and the cl semi final are papering over a very serious problem, We have bought too many duds, Otamendi,Mangala,Bony,Fernando, Sterling (at the moment but age is on his side) Jovetic, Negredo (sunny day player) Just who is in charge of these signings?
the spine of our team is past its sell by date, hate to say it but Silva Yaya while still decent players we have got the best out of them. Zabaleta Sagna Demichelles Kolarov Navas Nasri likewise,
the only first team players I can see worth keeping are Aguero,De Bruyne Kompany Hart and Kelechi, Maybe Clichy and Fernandinho
we need a serious rebuild, and it will take a few years before we can win the league again and challenge for champions league.

Can't wait to see the back of him. He has got things wrong time and time again. His obsession with Bony and 442 is absolutely ridiculous. If we don't finish top 4 this season all blame will lie with him.

Our record against the top 7 or 8 teams this season has been a joke - and have to say my expectations will be low on Weds too because who can trust a man that seemingly (until last week) has trusted a waste of space like Bony over Kelechi.

Okay mate, here's what he's done that deserves clapping:

Won the league, the league cup x 2 got us the furtherst we've ever been in the Champions league

On top of that he's managed the biggest bunch of uninspired lazy bunch of Prima-donnas we've ever seen at City. He has done all this despite the entire squad being ravaged by injuries constantly and for a ridiculous amount of time. This season alone the squad has had 69 different injuries.

He has done all that without being allowed to set up his own identity within the team, he has done all the above whilst knowing that no matter what he did, no matter how well he does, no matter what he was leaving, a stop gap. The equivalent of a footnote in the history of City's meteoric rise to the top. Nothing but a body to steady the storm left by Mancini in the back.

He has done all the above whilst being hobbled by FFP allowing the team to Stagnate, (Which no-one even bothers to mention any more when asking why this squad is so aged and decrepid. No, it's much more convenient to blame the corpse in charge.) He has done all the above despite all the cunts on here calling him things I would be honestly surprised to read on RAWK or Ragcafe, let alone here about one of our own.
He has done all the above in the face of adversity from constant corrupt officials, no help from the FA, no help from anyone all whilst being calm, pleasant and in control.

He has done all the above whilst being completely hung out to dry by the very players he has put all his trust into the past few years whilst he's been here. Pellegrini has always been a great man-manager that relies on the players to deliver after he puts trust in which approximately none of them have other than one. I see everyone has forgotten just how well Willy played in the LC fina purely because of how Pellegrini handled that situationl? Of course we have because Bluemoon has the collective attention span of a toddler with ADHD in the middle of Times square.

Another thing he's put up with City fans constant fucking moaning. He's put up with nothing this year other than "Why doesn't he play the full strength team every week the senile ****?" "Why is he running Kevin De Bruyne and aguero into the ground? How dare he play them every week" He can't win. The double standards a lot of the "fans" are showing recently are disgusting and I can't believe I've put this much effort into typing a response that you nor anyone else will bother to read because that's exactly the problem with this site. But why should we expect Pellegrini to care any more when so many have already turned our backs on him, all the while mocking Arsenal, United & everyone else for how tempremental they are, and how is he repaying our dispicable treatment of him? delivering a trophey, still well in the fight for top 4 and in the CL Semi-final with a very good chance of going through.

That's why he deserves a clap. But by all means, act like the spoilt toddler you are because he politely refused to sign an autograph for a child on one occasion.

Fucking hell, all the scholars are out tonight aren't they.

Good attempt at a response mate, perhaps try more substance or actually refuting the arguments? Might make for a better post.

I'll be giving him a clap, regardless of how we do in Madrid. He should have won more but I'm still happy with the three trophies.
Oh I'm more than happy with three trophies, I'd be happy with no trophies if we were good to watch with good tactics and the right team formations and selections, if we were 'at it' all the time and competitive for the title. It's more than trophies though and we aren't these things often enough.

How the fuck can you sit there and say that he hasn't had the chance to build anything when over £200 million has been spent under his reign. He's not exactly been backed like Remi Garde was at Villa has he?

If the manager has seen his arse about being a stop gap when he knew from day one what was happening then he shouldn't have took the job in the first place. He knew the score and any amount of saying that he has been hard done by is just papering over the cracks. For two seasons our domestic form has not been good enough.

The players have been poor this season. There is no doubt about it. But a lot of them have been let down by the managers tactics and that is the reason why we have been collectively shit domestically. Playing Delph left wing, Demichellis in a high line, Yaya or Fernando in a 2 man midfield and asking Bony to do the same job as Kun are all examples of how the players have been let down.

It's patently obvious that Yaya's legs have gone. It's not a matter of him not trying, it's that he physically cannot do what he could 2 years ago. Demichellis is the same. But not once this season has any adaptions to the squad been made for them.

Nothing about my criticisms of Pellegrini are knee jerk. It's based on us repeating the same mistakes over and over again and getting outplayed on numerous occasions by average sides.
