If the above deal is true I can't see any harm in taking money for him, waiting to see if he succeeds in a higher standard league and then having the option of buying him back for €6m.
A far better option than continually loaning him out and watching him leave for free or on the cheap when his contract is coming to an end.

If he's not worth us spending 18 mil, when the time comes, then it's because he's nowhere near good enough for City, so I don't see a problem with that.
It's not as if he's a local lad who would give the academy a boost by playing, they've never seen him there.

Good business i reckon. A bit more stability than you get from a loan move, it's in Villareal's interest to get the best out of him and if he turns out to be good enough for us we're essentially paying them a €6m development fee. In an era where top teams don't feel they can risk giving youngsters consistent game time, this is a pragmatic way doing things.

£12.5m is a good return. Would be great to see him flourish at Villarreal- stilll only 19.
