Gaz Baz out of Euros?

Gareth Barry will have a scan on Monday which is expected to rule him out of Euro 2012.

Roy Hodgson will not risk Barry, who limped out of the 1-0 win over Norway with a groin injury, and is preparing to promote Phil Jagielka from the stand-by list.
A 23-man-squad must be submitted by noon on Monday.

Manager Roy Hodgson claimed the Football Association would not wait to discover the extent of Barry's injury and the player was likely to have a scan on Sunday.

However, the FA have now said it will not be done until Monday, which is shaping up to be a significant day in England's Euro 2012 campaign.

'I'm not prepared to say Gareth's injury is serious at the moment. All I'm saying is it's going to demand our attention and we don't have a lot of time if the scan shows it is more than minor,' Hodgson said on Saturday.

It is also anticipated Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck and Liverpool defender Glen Johnson will report to have their respective ankle and toe injuries assessed by the England medical team.

What I don't get is, why do England fans hate him? Read the comments below, they say he's shit etc.

I'd rather play with 10 than with Barry to be honest.

He is poor, as are the rest of the midfield talent in the squad. Hodgson made some wacky decisions.

Ummm HELLO? He's currently a Champion of the country he represents, Having played 33 times in the league this season... No, let's all believe you instead, he must be shit and gets carried by City. Absolute joke, most people on here would happily fight Gaz Baz's corner and how he's been class for City this season.

I hope he misses the euro's personally, it will only serve to make his injury worse and he'll likely end up a scapegoat yet again.

Most peoples opinions on him come from the 5 minutes they see of Man City on Match of the Day, I think most people who watch city week in week out know how vital he has been to us this season.

Spot on. I'm sure he'd be gutted if he didn't go but frmo a selfish point of view I'd rather see him get a good rest this summer.

Gave up reading the crap on SSN website when everyone started slagging GB, the old chestnut of Germany ripping him apart at the world cup came, people tend to forget there were 10 other outfield players who got know were need Germany in that game. Gb has never been blessed with pace, who ever said he was. 5/6 Villa mangaers picked him week in week out, several different England managers and now two at City. Ignore the tripe that's spouted. I for one would be glad to see GB have a summer off.

I was almost pleased when I heard the injury would keep him out of the Euros.
England don't stand a chance of winning and just like the last World Cup and already mentioned, Barry is the perfect scape goat for a poor England team performance.
Hopefully Barry's injury will give St Scott the opportunity to show a wider audience what a headless chicken he is and it will be piss funny to see Parker charging around if it's 85 degrees

Never been the biggest fan of Barry, however one sometines forgets he choose City over Liverpool when City where still very much at the start of "The Project".
Other than the shocker he had upon his first return visit to Villa, Barry has been very solid for us and I assume very low maintenance for the Manager aswell.

Happy for him to have the summer off

I hope he does play in the euros, he deserves it.

However, should he not make it, then fuck england. All england fans think he is dreadful, and quite frankly i hope the england team fail (i dont really need to hope), because what was evident against norway was that parker and gerard in midfield in a 442 looked fucking awful

Let the twats rely on Scotty 'oh my, doesn't run around a lot' Parker, and then they'll realise what they're missing.

Great news for City, shame for Gaz on a personal level though.

What I'm finding particularly difficult to understand, however, is that Jagielka is tipped to be the one who replaces him in the squad. Am I missing something here? Maybe Beckenbauer Jones will abandon the position he is quite clearly the best in the world at and step up into midfield.
