i've said it for a long time now. If you want a winning mentality in the England squad you need to pick players who are winning week in, week out at club level.
Set your formation out and start at the top of the league and work your way down filling in the slots with Englishmen starting for their clubs from each squad e.g Goalkeeper, top of the Premiership, Man City, their regular goalkeeper is Joe Hart, so Joe Hart goes in goals, so on and so forth.
Last day of the season. Lets say we go with 4-4-2. I'd have looked down the table and gone with -
Hart
Walker-Ferdinand-Lescott-Cole
Lennon-Carrick-Barry-Young
Wellbeck-Rooney
Obviously then you take into account injuries, arguments etc just go down to the next team in the league and replace him with the next highest finishing player in that position.
It always seems simple to me to pick the England team but hey, bring on the Euros.
