England Euro 2012 thread

i've said it for a long time now. If you want a winning mentality in the England squad you need to pick players who are winning week in, week out at club level.
Set your formation out and start at the top of the league and work your way down filling in the slots with Englishmen starting for their clubs from each squad e.g Goalkeeper, top of the Premiership, Man City, their regular goalkeeper is Joe Hart, so Joe Hart goes in goals, so on and so forth.

Last day of the season. Lets say we go with 4-4-2. I'd have looked down the table and gone with -

Hart
Walker-Ferdinand-Lescott-Cole
Lennon-Carrick-Barry-Young
Wellbeck-Rooney

Obviously then you take into account injuries, arguments etc just go down to the next team in the league and replace him with the next highest finishing player in that position.
It always seems simple to me to pick the England team but hey, bring on the Euros.

Surely by that system Walcott starts in front of Lennon?

Just watched the USA and that is the standard England should be achieving at the moment. Okay the players aren't household names but they are looking effective.

Walcott has been playing on the right of a front 3. Whereas Lennon has been playing on the right of a midfield 4. If the formation England went with was 4-3-3 i'd have put Walcott in.
The players should come into the England side and the manager should just have to say go out there and do the same role for us as you do for your club. Why ask players to do a different role to what they have been all season.

What, losing 1-4 to Brazil's youth XI is effective?

Would you call Thiago Silva youth? Hulk? Brazil picked a strong line up, and the difference was clincal finishing.
