england squad (Merged)

I just don't get it, his first xi is pretty nailed, the rest you're just looking for players who can make an impact off the bench. For me, Johnson and Walcott are the best picks for this.

Prediction - usual WC heartbreak, followed around September time by all pundits saying how different it would all have been if Johnno was there, by then they will all know what we know - just how good he is.

Shame for Johnson, he does offer something of the unexpected, probably a year too soon for him to be honest though. He struggled at times when we played the top teams this season and i can see why Capello opted for SWP's experience. SWP also works his socks off and defends well for the team, could be important given that Glen Johnson is a shocking defender and any team with a good left winger may require the assistance of SWP's working back. Glad Walcott isn't going better off taking Darren Campbell.

Come on Enger-land!

--------------Hart----------------
Johnson--Terry-----Ferdinand---Cole
--------------Barry-------------
-------------------Lampard-----
Lennon---------------------Milner
------------Gerrard---------------
-----------Rooney----------------

Main reason Walcott didn't get picked = lack of first team football (same as SWP last time around) oh, and he's shit.
Still don't get Heskey though.........how can Agbonlahor not even be in the 30?!?

To not include Parker or Bent is just the worst decision i've ever seen, Parker has carried West Ham and hes been working his arse off in training and Bent well is the 3rd top scorer in the PL... Unbelievable.

As for Walcott i'm bored of this crap in the media today, he was never going to make it because of Lennon. His pace is good but Lennon has more and his final ball is better.

As for Johnson i'd love the lad to of been included but i never thought this year would be his year his inexperience might of been his undoing and also we haven't seen any of his final ball yet being played on the wrong side for City, the right position is quite congested with players.

Agree but most City fans would take Johnno over SWP, love SWP but its a bad call

I wonder how much betting was involved, every paper has had a competition to name the squad almost.

The squad looks fairly suspicious to me.

Walcott out? didn't see that coming personally.

A Johnson being talked up? Talked up big time by Capello, Most of the newspaper forums, and a wide selection of support from other clubs, expressed surprise at Johnson being left out.
Bet there was a lot of betting on his inclusion. Know I did, and only the most myopic would exclude him

SWP in? Most people are incredulous at that decision, in my heart of hearts, does not really look more effective than Johnson or Walcott. Waqlcott is a Capello favourite and has the pedigree.
A hat-trick is a hat-trick. Can see no reason why he would not score more coming on as a sub.

Warnock In? Beggars belief frankly, Barry in? 90% fit and I can't see more than that is not good enough.

4 capable of playing right. Cole Milner Lennon and SWP

3 on the left? Gerrard Milner and Cole? No natural left footer?

Very strange

So four options up front.

Rooney and Cole
Rooney and Heskey
Rooney and Gerrard
Crouch, Lennon and Defoe.
