Output? By the time he came on we had stopped attacking and he still managed to look the most competent player on the pitch.
You're telling me Foden has looked anything like he has at City out there on the right for England in any game of this tournament so far? Bar maybe 15-20mins in the first game against Croatia before going quiet after being marked out of the game. What do you think I mean by output in terms of a Forward/Winger? Chance creation, goal involvement etc. I hope he gets a chance to play and show us what he can do(on the left if Southgate has any sense) but I'm not going to praise him without merit. I never said he's played poorly but I've seen him play much better and Grealish too(although he has an assist, I'm not too fussed about the freekicks personally).

I think you're being a bit too defensive there.

You can't be marked out of a game when the game you're playing is played pretty much on the opposite side you're playing. Sounds a tongue twister but rewatch and you'll see that he wasn't quiet because he was marked out of the game but because all our attacking play came from the opposite side.

Yep ! and we celebrate Irish capped Grealish and Rice and the 5 or 6 other squad members, who were eligible to play for Ireland. But not as much as we celebrate Dubliner Eoin Morgan, CBE,dragging England to World Cup glory.

Guinness, over rated imo , try Murphys, for a smoother cleaner taste.
Beamish nicer than Murphys in my book.
Caffreys is a nice drink too in fairness.
Can’t beat a good pint of Guinness though. Nicer over here.

Why do you think the attacking play was going down the left all game? Because nothing was working down the right perhaps? Are you drunk or wumming?

I think you need to go and watch again and take notice of what happened when it did go down the right hand side of our attack. When he did receive the ball, he passed it right back because he normally had too much attention on him(same with the Scotland game but all of our attack was anonymous that game). I will even say Saka has maybe shown Foden isn't as effective on that side of the pitch because he's done better. He's taken players on, got in behind and created chances, even when he's had players trying to mark him tightly. These are all things we know Foden is more than capable of as City fans. Although, I think Foden is more effective when he has someone to combine with, like Gundo for example. Maybe Mount or better yet, Grealish in Mount's position, would make for some penetrating patterns of play?

I'm not knocking Foden, I know how good he is but he hasn't hit top gear in this tournament yet.

He will meet a decent team early on or at all sooner or later in a tournament, but with the mentally of some of the media and English supporters beating no one gets you a sainthood status nowadays.

Anyhow game is about to start, should be a England win.
Totally agree and why I don't like our national team.

We get carried away when we lose and go overboard when we win.

He’s going down before any contact
100%

He bought that penalty for sure.

An expected result, and performance,it would have been a shocker had we lost to a very average Denmark side.

I don't like Southgate's tactics or approach to a game, but, the players seem to like and respond to him,and despite the favourable run we have been given.....we are in a final.....so that needs to be applauded.

I've just looked again, maybe I wasn't clear. Firstly, I said I don't think it was enough for a pen but he didn't dive.

Secondly, there was contact from two players to my eyes.

There is contact with the hip from the second player and this is when Sterling is already on the way down.

Before that though, Sterling shifted his weight onto his left and then onto his right, to weave his way through. As he knocked the ball on and shifted his momentum onto his right watch number 5 for Denmark, notice the moment he puts his leg out and look where the ball is.

Above you can see, Sterling has knocked the ball on, he is not off balance/on the way down, the ball is passed the defenders foot and his leg is outstretched in front of Sterling.

Is that an attempt to play the ball or is it an attempt to stop Sterling who is rapid from attempting to run onto his knock on? You said it was non recoverable but if he wasn't knocked off balance I wouldn't bet against Sterling getting onto that even if it was a heavy touch and maybe the defender thought the same.

A couple of fames on and Sterling is still not on his way down, but he's got nowhere to go, being sandwiched from both sides neither defender playing for the ball. He's going to have to either run into the defender's outstretched leg or try and avoid it, which he does try to do IMO.

He's tried to avoid the contact and but it's still been made, which is what puts him off balance and then the other defender makes contact with the hip but he was already on the way down. That's what I thought people were referring to(as already on the way down) because it's the only one that makes sense.

It is a soft one because there wasn't much contact but it wasn't a dive, to me Sterling could have took more advantage of the outstretched leg if he wanted to but he tried to get past it.

BTW the "cheating bastard diver" earlier was tongue in cheek. Sterling gets too much of that and it's led to refs waving play on for things that other teams have got a pen for in the same game against City. We don't need it from City fans too. Some penalties are too soft these days but if they're going to be given, they need to be consistent with it.
Never a penalty in a million years, he looked for it, got it and we scored and won, end of story.

Cheating/simulation has always gone on in the game (Lee 1 Pen) but it's becoming far too much a problem, time the authorities got a grip on it.

ARISE SIR RAHEEM of STERLING
Every game Raz has fearlessly taken on the opponents defence. Yes, he lost the ball sometimes but that is no sin; it is risk and reward. His runs have made defenders' blood run cold with fear. As the tension rose to fever pitch, he did it one more time. Game over.
