To my surprise a German ref explained on tv that UEFA pre EURO have given instruction, that in case of ANY contact for a possible penalty the onfield ref takes the decision and VAR cannot overrule!I think you can debate about the penalty until England reaches another final at a tournament.
There was contact. But surely not of a kind that made Sterling fall over like he did. And we have seen this many times this season.
The one thing I find peculiar is that the ref didn’t had a look on a tv screen. Or that the VAR asked for him to have a look as it could’ve gone either way.
It’s a pity games of such importance are decided by controversy because it was by all means a controversial penalty.
That seems to be the reason a check and review didn't take place.
Yeah, why use technology? Makes no sense.
