England v Greece | 10th Oct '24 | Nations League

With the England manager, you can’t do right for doing wrong. With Southgate, it was boredom in many people’s eyes, Carsley has now tried to be attacking and that hasn’t worked, not his fault that Alexander Arnold and Saka don’t want to do their defensive duties during the game but no, the media won’t highlight that. So, before the Carsley pile on, let’s give him a bit of a chance, he’ll try things out, he talked about courage, let’s hope he has the courage to not name two or three of the bigger ego players, the next match.

Mate it was a ludicrously unbalanced selection at international level. It might work in kids football, where I think he used it, but it was ripped to shreds by a bang average Greek side who could have scored five or more.
He is hopelessly out of his depth at this level.

They replaced even more meaningless, friendlies. In order for International football to be viable football associations and federations need revenues stream from regular games.

And managers need the games to be able to experiment in less risky situations, otherwise they'll managerial turnover will mirror the football league championship.
I understand the logical explanation, but the proliferation of games makes international football less special. Add in the strength of league football and it's dying on its arse.

I think for these worthless nations league games, only play players in one game.

Foden and Bellingham both want to be 10. Give them a game each, separately so they’re not in each others way. Give Watkins abs Kane a game each. Same with Saka/palmer etc…

Players moan about match load, easy way to get rid of probably 8 games a year right there and also gives us a chance to view everyone in their own position.

That's definitely a bold opinion.

I admire the fact that you think a manager who never managed above Europa League level was guaranteed to do better than a manager who steered England to their first two European finals.
I'm one of many who think England would have done better with a manager other than Southgate. As for the level Fat Sam has managed at; was Southgate's record any better.
My main point was that Fat Sam might have achieved something if it wasn't for a gutter-press sting, and there is hardly a manager in the game who is squeaky-clean and has the public image desired by the FA.

Far too sensible approach that.

The FA want all their social media stars on the pitch at the same time.
