well I don’t know about the rankings, but we only second team to put more than 2 goals past them since 2015 in both competition and friendlies, and they have played decent teams in that time.

They are definitely not a great team and not a big threat, but they usually know how to defend

Spain and Portugal didn’t do that well with them recently. They beat Uruguay too.

These games are never easy, you can’t take them for granted. Argentina reached the final in 2014 but only scraped past Iran 1-0 with an injury time goal.

Fans expecting England should just “twat them all over” are either just looking at the name Iran and thinking it’s a walkover without any knowledge, or they’re looking for a reason to slate England if they don’t hammer a tricky side.
