The power lies with 'unified player action', supported by their unions. But without the players, there wouldn't be tournaments to make them money.
Player power will be the new thing for 2025, I can see big changes on both the club and the international front and once the club's World Cup tournament gets closer in the summer we could see a player strike.
Rodri has already spoken about the possibility of a strike and the FIFA club tournament could be their main aim
Managers and Players don't want it, But the clubs are committed to it and have to honour the deal.
If players selectively down tools en masses for certain games/tournaments those tournaments will be devalued/cancelled....no players,no games.
Imo I'd much prefer to see City's pre season tour based around a camp in the UK & (say) Austria in alternate years.
However sponsors demand exposure in their home and foreign markets and like it or not the commercial side of the club exists to generate revenue.
Friendlies at Wednesday, Blackpool, West Brom & Nottinham County would suit me with the CS at Vanilla.
