England v Ivory Coast | Tues 29th March, 19:45 | Friendly

Interesting
I think why Foden isnt at his best for England is because he has had years of training and playing with the worlds best manager and players. His brain works to quick for the English team mates
Grealish is still learning our way and looks abit slow and slightly of our game at City but fits into an England team !.
Once Grealish gets up to speed at City he wont be so good for England ;)
Foden is thrown in anywhere Southgate can. He knows that if Phil was consistently left out, he would have more questions to answer.

Maguire being booed is a joke says waistcoat. No it isn't, people are entitled to their opinion and years ago the stick he gets would have been much worse. They are OK at accepting praise and smoke up their arses but when they don't deliver should be equally accountable. Get over it, concentrate on playing and man up, slab head has been laughingly shocking this season and should be nowhere near the England team if waistcoat really picks on form

Disagree. Whatever you think of him, he’s never made an error for England, at the Denmark red card. He did okay last night. He didn’t need booing before the game started.

Would you boo a player in a City shirt?

I think booing a player for the team you're supporting should be reserved for times when they've been an absolute knobhead. Like if Zouma played for us, I'd be giving him grief about the cats.

Booing Maguire for England (when he's very rarely put a foot wrong on international duty) because he's having a shit season for his club is bullshit.

I get the argument that he shouldn't have been called up, but any criticism of the squad choice should go to Southgate, not the players he chooses.

I think Maguire's a decent defender. He struggles in the PL because everything around him is shambolic and he's got no confidence because he's constantly criticised. In the England set-up, with a solid defensive structure and a manager who believes in him, he looks a different player. Still not a superstar (and there are other players fighting for that place), but a far cry from how he's been playing in his day-job.

Slabhead and Rags PR team out In force today.

Mind you if I had paid 80 million quid for a fridge I'd be out defending it to hide the embarrassment of how much I was ripped off.

I do think it's fairly common to see City players playing for England look confused/fucked off when either a run they make isn't seen or there's no one available for a pass they expect to be able to make (inc. the simpler ones designed to move the opposition around etc). I'm sure its an adjustment for other clubs players coming to the national team too but the level (in both senses of the word) of coaching at City makes it a bit more noticeable with our players.

I’m absolutely baffled how you can say you don’t think we have the players. We’re another top centre back short but other than that we’ve got very good defenders. In midfield an excellent young holding player in Rice. After that he’s just spoilt for choice with Foden, Sancho, Bellingham, Sterling, Grealish, Mount, Saka amongst others. We also happen to have one of the best number 9’s in world football.

With so much flair and talent it’s quite an achievement for Boregate to play in such a negative and rigid way. We’ve gone far in the last 2 tournaments without ever beating anyone you wouldn’t expect us to beat due to kind draws and some pretty poor opposition. In reality we should have very little to fear now in international football and should be looking to attack and entertain with Foden at the forefront of it.

Dead right. The days of having an inferior complex as regards the other international teams should be over.

You only have to look at how France struggled against the ivory coast to see that they are nothing to fear.

With an attacking mindset this English team would best them easily.

Other than that who is there. Spain are very dangerous but they cant finish their chances.

Holland are no great team either. They have de Jong and van dyke that's it.

Brazil have neymar that's about it. There are probably the weakest they have ever been.

Argentina and Portugal have a faded Messi and ronaldo that's it.

Germany are an unknown quantity since they have a new manager. I think they will win the world Cup. If they can tap in to the Germany mentality of old.

But even they are beatable.
