England v Scotland | Euro 2020 Group Stage

I was suprised by Scotlands grit, those players kinda played somewhat over their nominal level today, they kinda grew in the match.I'm sure they will be happy with the draw, from their perspective i can understand that.

I can't understand how a team with the rediculous pace and physical abbilety of England couldn't just overpower Scotland. Even on the pitch that difference seemed somewhat conspicious. It's like Southgate has no clue where some of the greatest strenghts of this team are. I concur that a more creative midfield would be rather helpfull.
Surprised by our grit? Scottish people have grit in our veins. Always have, always will. Our regiments for centuries have shown themselves to be the best. We have grit in abundance, technical ability not so widespread. But, we are getting there.

What a fucking major letdown of a game and a totally shit performance by England. Really only interested to see how the City players perform and they're not doing nowhere near enough in my eyes. Sterling was as shit as ever tonight, marginally better in the first game, Foden not getting involved enough, not sure he'll start the last group game. Disappointed for Phil as I thought he'd really shine in this tournament, not happening so far
The real problem is the system and how Southgate employs the players
He is scared and his team selection and system show that..
No disrespect, but why play 2 DM's against Scotland FFS!
Foden was a real threat but play him on the left side.
Everyone knows Sterling hasn't got a left foot and wants to cut inside but apparently Southgate doesn't.
He should've taken off Sterling and put on Sancho.
Why take these young players if you're not going to play them.
It was a shite display from England and Scotland deserved their point, it'll be interesting to see how the media spin this one!

It's the Scots first major tournament since 1998 they are all going to enjoy a point against England at Wembley in a major tournament they are entitled to their moment, Nobody expected them to get anything tonight and they put in a good show after a bad defeat against the Czechs. With the last 18 months everyone is after having good on them they should enjoy the moment.
Good shout,I've been living in Aberdeen for 2 years now and watched the game with a few lads from here, they know they're shite and appreciated what was a great result for them.
They probably won't get through but seemed to want to avoid embarrassing themselves more than anything.
Like you say a big part was wanting something to have a good piss up and celebration about.

Dont understand anyone who expected less from Scotland. They worked as hard as they could and tried to make it difficult. That was always going to be the case. England gave nothing in return. Piss poor.

Perhaps that Scots have grit is nothing to be surprised off, i should not expect less of people who'd walk onto a heavily contested beach with bagpipes. But when you look at the physical difference between England and Scotland, England should have overclassd Scotland in physical terms, pretty much because it's a key ... strenght of that team nomminally. That and run Scotland silly.

Not sure why people are once again going after Sterling, he was the most dangerous England player by an absolute mile. Literally the only attacking player for England to create anything. Not saying much, but in Englands fucking terrible system that cripples all attacking players, he's the one that found 3 or 4 dangerous passes that could easily have resulted in goals, plus should have had a penalty. Don't recall any of the other attackers doing a single positive thing. (not that I blame them, it's entirely on the manager, but picking out Sterling when he's the only one to do anything positive seems pretty agenda driven)

Kane and Rashford combined to never touch the ball, Foden was invisible, all Grealish did was his usual impression of one of those actors on the injury lawyers for you adverts. Getting that many quality attacking players to play that badly is almost impressive. Move Southgate upstairs so he can carry on being nice and an FA yes man, but not having to be in charge of anything football related, because he's fucking clueless

Decent assessment, apart from Foden. He looked to me the only one attempting to create and drive at the opposition. England were worse, much worse when he went off.

Still achieved exactly the same, despite our national game being funded about 3 quid a week and a population 10x smaller.
Ah the population ruse. The best card a small country has to play. A win win even when you lose and your best players play abroad. Nothing to lose really, play with no pressure as an underdog - remember Sparta!

Grealish- fell over a couple of times, got one of theirs booked, misplaced a couple of passes, didn't create much. Might have been better to see him link up with Foden. Why have Shaw playing with Sterling. Both cut inside , Shaw doesn't compliment Sterling at all. Flat performance but Southgate was scared tonight. There's at least 6 teams out there that would stuff us out of sight
