Agree. The whole set up completely lacks substance. There’s no central philosophy about how we want to play. When players are left to their own devices they will naturally choose to do risk-averse things unless instructed otherwise.

They are not being instructed to take any risks and this is the result of that. Everybody is just trying to not look bad in a bad set up.
