England vs Ghana thread

Haha! Each to their own I suppose. I'm not sure I could play for Spain If I had Spanish grandparents or something. He was a quality defender though so the choice is his.

Not really sure why Welbeck was being jeered either. He's a born and bred Manc isn't he? Shame to see a young kid getting that treatment. For a Man U player he seems quite level headed.

I can understand why it may seem a little strange to some people, but Desailly chose France because he felt he was good enough to get into their international team and go for the World Cup, and not just the occasional African honour with Ghana. There's nothing wrong with him believing in his football abilities. I never really saw him play, but being a regular feature in AC Milan's and Chelsea's winning sides, he must have had something about him.

I like him. He's the cheery black guy surrounded by three dismal white blokes. Like Cleveland in Family Guy.

Should never turn your back on your country because you feel you above them, infact thats the worst reason possible! Thuram, Karembeu and some other guy in the France WC winning team are the same
So, say you come from Manchester (which you probably do), and Team Manchester FC and London FC come to ask you to play for them. London FC have won everything, and Team Manchester FC have won nothing, and won't do for some time. Your parents also come from London FC. I'd go to London FC... but when Team Manchester FC were playing, I'd support them, for example.

What does your country necessarily do for you? It's land mass to me. I didn't ask to be born here. I'm English, but if my mum was Spanish, I know who I'd rather play for.

Average?

Well give me that over Balotelli any day.

Also I hope you were taking the piss with having that over Balotelli any day.

Give me some evidence to the contrary and don't come out with that 10 goals in 19 appearances tosh..... How many games has he actually scored in and against who?

I've seen nothing to suggest he has anything like the talent we were promised, couple that with the immaturity, stupidity,a lack of bottle and no workrate and the evidence is overwhelming.
Not only do i want to see talent,i also want winners playing in Blue,Gyan fits that criteria very well.

I think Ballotelli is naturally more gifted than Gyan! However Balo might never realise his full potential because of his mental issues.

Gyan has talent no doubt! I personally believe that he could go on become an african legend as good as Eto, Roger Miller and even Drgoba. His mentality and his ability is what makes him better than Balo.

Mancio would proabbly argue that Balo is younger more potential and so on. But a half truth is still a lie. In other words Talent or potential alone doesnt make you a complete pro. Balo clearly is missing the mental side of things.

Back to Gyan
What hes lacking now is quality players around him. If Gyan were to be in this ManCity side I belive he would be scoring goals for fun. Even Tottenham would swap him for Defoe or Pavlychenko any day all day!

I put it this way Im born to English parents and born in England i grow up in Brazil. Im still English and unlike you i am patriotic just like Desailly pretended to be i would play for England doesnt matter about winning its about representing your country. You cant just pick and choose like Desailly except you can, lol

it seem to me some people here think they are now scout or sport directors , or managers.

i'm here waiting for anyone wo care to explain to me WHY gyan dont play at barca , or at real madrid , or at bayer , inter , chelsea , united , milan , juventus , arsenal etc etc . oh wait ... i know ... managers and sport directors of the top clubs are notoriously blind... they dont see if a player is a good or an average one...while BM users instead do. becouse some BM users know football a lot better than them.

and , by the way , where was and what was doing gyan when he was 20 ?

Lescott wasn't tight enough and got owned. Shame because he'd done quite well until then. Maybe he'll learn for the weekend.

Nice to see Desailly jumping on the Ghana bandwagon. "we love our Gyan" etc etc.
Yeh all 4 of our England players tried to stop Gyan scoring in that move, I hope we do better at weekend.

People waste their lives for their country. It's a crime; but that's for another thread.

Ah well, I like Desailly.

Mancio,do you honestly believe we have the luxury of 5 years so Balo can decide whether or not to get a handle on himself as well as display some of this ability i'm constantly informed about?

Gyan would do an excellent job, contributing far more to our 'team' than our Italian problem.

Nice to see Crapello get his priorities right by sending the sky boys back to their clubs whilst a footballing but hard tackling Ghana kick lumps out of our boys. Fair play to Gaz Baz and Milner giving it them back.

In Milners case, the match fitness is essential.Won't have done Barry any harm either....

Don't come out with the 10 goals in 19 games despite being injured, given two harsh red cards, only just turning 20 and playing his first season away from home? I'll take a wild stab in the dark and say you didn't want me to ocme out with it because it discredits what you are saying.

Look at Etoo, Messi, Villa and Rooney at a similar age. I bet they played against some pretty shit opposition at that age yet they didn't have anywhere near as good goal to games ratio as Balo.

I don't want a player that just runs around aimlessly after the ball and shows grit and determination. I wan't somebody who can produce something like this. Also the 'he doesn't work hard' is absolute bullshit. He's a striker. It's not his job to go back chasing everything. One of Tevez' main flaws at times.

His goal in this video. How many top players could pull off the goal he scored in this video?

I thought they both played well. Barry played like a Captain, loved the way he twatted a ghanian after the ref had just left 3 or 4 of their tackles go.

They both played great, the difference being they were allowed to play their natural games as they were amongst complimentary, hardworking teammates in a balanced line up.

Yet more evidence Mancini hasn't a scooby.....

Does anyone else hate Gyan as much as me?

I like him..how can you hate him?

I think Gyan will be troubling our defence on sunday. :(

He powned Lescott. Just shows that Lescott isn't that great defender tbh. There are like 5 english CB :s ahead of him.

Lescott made one error and gets punished for it. Gyan has the commentator, media, etc, et al, waiting for a hat-trick, slavering down their waistcoats, so they can no doubt compare him to some other red fuckin' devil, and he scores a decent goal on ninety. That's it. His main trick is to try and welly the casin' off the ball so that it flies, dips, swerves and everyone hails it as the best goal since, well, the shinner. 70% hype, 20% athletic ability and 10% fluff.

Putting all club loyalties aside, anyone who thinks that laughing stock/psycho is better than Gyan needs their head examined.

Psycho? Fuck me! He does a few daft things, goes in to a challenge high and late and all of a sudden people claim he is a psycho. Psychos are the sort of people with serious problems. Mario is just a young footballer who if an average person had done what he has would not be branded a psycho. I sometimes wonder if people are actually aware of what psycho means!
