2nd half has to be England's worst performance ever. They hit the jackpot with this draw and still fucked it up. Kane and Rooney were atrocious. Kane couldn't have played any worse if he tried.

Italy have 3 guaranteed midfielders missing through injury in Marchisio, Montolivo and Verrati, have no real recognised striker (Pelle scored a mere handful in qualifying), have lost all their big stars other than Buffon, Chiellini and De Rossi and are generally seen as a team in transition. For all those qualities, I knew they would end up being a dark horse because they'd have to work out the best available options. And some guy not deemed good enough for Sunderland has helped them demolish 2 top 5 teams in the world and onward they go.
We're shoehorning Rooney into whatever position doesn't seem to be working particularly well, playing 3 up front, Sturridge on the wing, trying formations we have never previously used.

Also, if Messi can retire at 29 - Rooney can fuck off tomorrow too - no England manager has had the balls to ditch him and actually think about some tactics.

After Euro 2000 that completely revamped their coaching and management system ready for the world cup in 2006. Got to the final in 2002 and semi's in 2006. They persisted with the system and eventually its bore fruit in winning the world cup in 2014. Just think about how many world class players and coaches they have produced in the last 10 years. Now just think how many world class players and coaches we have produced in the last 10 years. The English FA needs to be overhauled and modernized just like the German FA was. It would take time but Germany are one of the worlds best teams now while we are a laughing stock. Go back further then follow the time line - Beckenbauer, Ruminigge, Hrubesch - there is a thread through German football ( and Italian and so on ) where successful teams spawn individuals who go on to have roles in domestic and then international football from youth team coaches, club and national team managers, administrators and so on. Yes there have been some rum buggers with dodgy dealings but over all go back to our 66 team and follow it forward and our internationals end up insurance salesmen, managing minor clubs, TV pundits.... we have discarded football know how football talent repeatedly in favour for nearly men and yes men and charlatans from abroad after money .... Greg Dyke is in charge of the FA FFS - GREG DYKE - OF ROLAND RAT FAME !!!!

I think only Walker had a good tournament maybe sling Rose there too. They showed more attacking threat than our midfielders and strikers put together. Everyone had a mediocre or poor tournament. Hodgson has no clue at all. If it weren't for that last gasp winner against Wales we wouldn't have even won a game. Blue hammer will come on here and say we are the best in the universe but I won't believe it until it happens
