England Vs Poland - Match Thread

What will be interesting to see is when woy comes to pick his squad for the finals who will he omit?

Let's accept that Walcott, Oxade-Chanberlain will be going as wide men, will he take Wellshite or Townsend?

You'd surely expect it to be Townsend but i'm not so sure he'll do it.

Plus i like the 4-2-3-1 formation but it's crying out for some younger legs next to Gerrard, Carrick and then Lampard (who surely was getting his last cap with that performance) are to slow now and will be given the run around over in Brazil.

I'd like to see
---------Gerrard------Rodwell-------
Townsend--Barkley---OxadeChamberlain
------------Rooney----------------

And will someone tell Cahill to calm down when he's on the ball, no point winning it back for him to try the 60 yard 'Hollywood' ball which gives it away cheaply.

Depending on what happens from now till then,i hope he doesn't mess with it too much.

These friendlies we have organized, if your Roy do you play players you know your taking and keep building them up for the WC or do you bring in fresher faces and give them the chances to shine.

Really is a tough call in my eyes as i'd like to think he'd stick with the same ones as he did for the qualifiers and have played a bit.

An article in today's Guardian is advocating a Jones/Smalling centre half partnership for England at the World Cup. No, seriously.

Having 3 people who are very poor defensively in the back 4 is an interesting tactic.

It's the Kevin Keegan plan; ''you score three, we'll score 4''.

I agree with you in terms of England lacking that quality defensive shield in midfield. Gerrard/Lampard and Carrick will be overrun. Gerrard needs support from someone more agile. Rodwell can barely stay fit so I doubt very much that he will be going, I hope he does as he will address the problem. England have a number of good players who can play in various positions which is nice. We have Rooney and Sturridge as good striking options and can either play two, with one wide or in behind, or fit Wilshere/Barkley in behind with midfield creativity.

Love the dynamic of this picture. Running steward, our own pitch runner (note: casual style, apart from flamboyant hat) and Kamil Glik- zero fucks given :D
