english city players.

I'm not into this English player thing I just think if a players good enough he should get in the team regardless of his nationality.

In all honesty there are not many technically gifted English footballers about we just do not produce them as the English aren't as good at football as we would all like to believe.

If new rules come in stating we have to play a number of English players then I'm afraid the standard of our league will go back to being pretty poor.

Greg Leigh is a decent LB. If George Evans makes a first team appearance he'll be the first City player to come through all the academy stages (from age of 6 to U21 level)

Me too! He was on the bench for the Champions League match against Ajax. He seems highly rated among the City staff.

no one has suggested just play them coz they are English. It has now become a stereotypical view that English players aren't as good or ad technically as good, but there are players who are very technically gifted and are as good, players like Wilshire and Barkley are fantastic tehnically.

The league needs more English players and needs to stop neglecting youg players, ten years ago Germany were in the same position, they focused young talent now have players like goetze and draxler. If we didn't have any English players like hart or Richards who are good enough then it wouldn't feel like city imo we need more young English players

Ashley Smith-Brown seems a good prospect from what I've seen.
Hiwula, Cole and Leigh are also decent. Wabara too but not likely to make it at our level.
Although Evans is the best English prospect we have IMO, quality player.

Also Rodwell is English.

Really hope George Evans makes it. Like other posters have mentioned he's come up through all the ranks at City and as well as being English he's a also a blue which is great. That's one of the major reasons which made it so hard to see the way MJ's career deteriorated the way it did. Would be a dream to see a City fan to play regularly in our side and give everything for the shirt. Suppose we've still got our beloved adopted Manc's Zabba and Vinnie so it isn't all bad.

Got a dream of George Evans not only breaking into the first team but becoming our captain as well. Not only an English talent but born in Manchester as well. Would wear the blue shirt with pride.

I know some people don't really care about our younger players nationalities but I really do, it's uncool but I support England almost as much as City and I'd love to see a youngster from our academy break into our team and one day captain England.

It's the same reason I want all our English players to get into the England squad.

James Horsfield & James Hardy under 17's both from Bramhall and
both played for the under 18's at the weekend!

Hope Evans makes his debue soon, we could do with a player who supports the club and also knows it's roots.

No one has mentioned Alex Henshall, whats happened to him? Also arw Keiran Kennedy and Bradley Robinson any good?

George Evans, Shay Facey, Devante Cole, Jordi Hiwula to name a few - no guarantee that any will make it of course.

Evans has been bloody good every time I've seen him. MiniBarry.

evans was the stand out player when i've watched the eds this season.
