They're nicking a living from all the ex male professional players doing them out of a job. They should work on the women's game which is where their expertise lies.

Has she considered the fact she's not getting any work is because she's completely shite at being a pundit or commentating?

I take the piss out of Karen Carney every week and she's a fucking rag, but, she knows exactly what the score is when it comes to football. Alex Scott another one who is brilliant at it.

This woman is just bitter and is using her sex and race as an excuse for being wank at her chosen profession.
 
She's not getting work because she's a really bad pundit.


Although she's not the only one and plenty of really bad pundits are on our screens week in week out. So maybe she does have a point.

In her defence she's undoubtedly had an incredibly difficult time since Barton's comments and doesn't deserve any of it. She probably feels that she has to stay in the headlines to have any chance of a career in the media so is doing all she can to stay relevant. You can't really blame her. Ian Wright is doing a great job in making men connect to the women's game, which is critical to its success. I doubt Aluko is smart enough to realise that and just sees him taking up a female spot.

Pundits as a rule baffle me. There are 100's of good ex pros men and women but to be a Pundit it seems you need to be a knobhead.

You need to have a massive chip on your shoulder, not be very intelligent, be a drugs cheat, spit at young kids, be unable to be neutral, to encourage fans to invade the statium before matches, to be able to voice your own bias opinion.

So she fits the bill perfectly.

She comes across as someone who is trying to get celebrity status by slagging off others in the game.
 
I thought her punditry duties were curtailed by her other work in football. She took up a DoF role for Villa's women's team before moving to the NWSL's Angel City and then on to Como in Italy (which didn't last too long). Can't expect to come back at the same level of work she had before that if others have now taken on the role.

How these pundits get their jobs in the first place is shrouded in mystery to me. For example, do ITV and BBC issue adverts on their websites and/or in the trade press? Is it about who your agent is connected to? For the BBC at least I think transparency is required.

Regardless of Aluko, I think there’s a fair bit of revisionism going on in this thread about Ian Wright!

Personally I’ve never been a big fan of him as a pundit since day one. He doesn’t and never did bring much insight, and his one-eyed bias towards arsenal in recent years has become tedious and annoying in the extreme. We this and we that. No place for his cheerleading when he’s supposedly doing his pundit job. He’s as bad as some of the others, if not worse, in how blatant he is.

(Just to be clear I’m not making a comment on or defending what Aluko has said).

Ian Wright is one of the biggest advocates and loudest voices for the womens game. It’s important to have a high profile figure singing the praises of the women and attacking him feels like a step backwards when the sport is taking such big strides.

So, the full story doesn't appear to be anything like as dramatic. Someone else asked her about Ian Wright, and she said some very nice things about him, while making some fairly uncontroversial points about women pundits.
