Enzo Fernandez

So all the players on the books before these signings don’t have any amortisation value? I can assure you they will have (unless written off due to Abramovich). Also, what about any new signings in the next 7/8 years?
yeah they will ,they are banking on selling them off in the next windows. front end all the buys now, clear the deadwood with sales/loans next summer with contracts up and due as well.

The list below could easy be written off the books just by letting the contracts run down even without buyers.

2023 - Jorghino, Kante, T.Silva
2024 - Kovacic, Azpi, Auba, RLC, Pulisic, Mount, Baba, Hudson-Odoi, Bakayoko
2025 - Kepa, Ziyech, Havertz, Chilwell, Mendy, Gallagher

Signings, they prob arent looking at making many, look at the ages of the guys they are bringing in.

This is why they are giving players 7.5 year deals. The cost of a player is amortised over the contract length, so longer contracts equal lower costs per year. It also brings a lot of risk too and it could end in tears in the long run.

If that is what they need to do to qualify and they are happy with that risk then fair enough.

I think it’s absolute BS that UEFA have changed the rules because someone does not like it.

It’s a risky thing to offer such long term contracts, but you should be allowed to run your business as you like.

Anyone has this option if they wish.

Back to Enzo hope he stays as I think more beneficial for us to have him on the market in the summer, as he could be an option.

The business strategy of buying high and selling low is not the best way to run their business.

If it evens out over the ffp period they will be fine. Build a young squad for the manager now and let the rest fade away, front end the bulk of all the dealings.

FFP wise I think they will be fine.

However, on the pitch success will be based on the vast majority of investments working out for them.

There is also the variables of keeping so many players ATM and trying to sell to a buyer knowing you have to sell.

They can also run into issues with players not working out and being on long term contracts, plus not having the room in FFP to replace.

Doesn’t seem like the new Chelsea owner values their academy much.
They probably don’t know where it is.

Still pondering whether they have had pay any money to buy the club and whether the proposed purchase is just some obscure commitment to pay for charitable purposes which can be kicked into the long grass for a distant date clouded in the political quagmire.

From what we have seen of the American owners they have been reluctant to spend unless they cripple the club with debts as with Manure and Liverpool under Gillet and Hicks and to some extent previously at Arsenal. The other mid table teams don’t seem to spend much.
