Like most modern professionals he is essentially a freelancer. City go to him and say we have a 2 year role at x million per year, might you be interested ?. Enzo discusses this with Mrs Enzo to see if she fancies a couple of years in leafy Cheshire, which may or may not fit into their life plans, eg back to Italy in 2028.. If we win, he wins, his stock rises and maybe he ends up in charge of the Italia national team. His contract can state with an option for 3 years to manage the comms and stop msm noise about him leaving. If it goes tits up and we are well off the champs league places in December he knows that will not be acceptable. Unless the ownership changes Vinny will be our head coach for a long old time...

That's just something you've made up to suit what you want to happen though. There is nothing to suggest any of it is real.

It's just one view, I can see it happening but as you say if may turn out differently.
I'm sure the club and Maresca will agree a contract which suits both of them, If he is to succeed Pep then I wish him every possible success

It may pan out like that,but doubt thats the intetion.The club will think Maresca can first keep them in the top 4 and second win trophies while not as many as Pep did,thats not normal , taking a step backwards just in case Vinny is available in 3 years won't be in their thinking.

Did they? Not doubting you just don't recall. My recollections of Peps first year was of immense excitement. I could see what he was trying to do with a bunch of oap's even when we were getting thumped.

Only time I recall ever thinking he didn't get city or the fans was the cup game against United at old trafford were we went with a largely reserve/eds side with the likes of maffeo and garcia starting and lost. That night, he definitely didn't get city, but he quickly learned.

Loads didn't slag off Pep in his first season. There'll be the odd one or two but that poster has a history of playing with the truth
 
Won 2 trophies in 18 months with Chelsea and got Leicester promoted at first attempt. Maybe we have the right person who knows but you have to give him credit for taking on the biggest job in football. I’m actually coming round to the idea that the players will respond to him because of his similarities with Peps coaching style. Having said that I would love to see him get the best out of Haalands pace and power.

I could understand the situation with Pep but highly unlikely with Vinny. There is nothing to suggest getting is anywhere near Pep's level
