Enzo Maresca

Any chance Nunes might end up back in midfield.

Rico has had games then and will be gone. Rodri has been linked with leaving don’t think he will but he isn’t 100% back to how he was Kovacic is surely going. Gonzales has been linked with move and seems certain but perhaps Maresca will change that but even so. Bernardo is gone. No Stones stepping into midfield.

Hopefully gets the best out of Erling. We all know it's against peps principles so was never going to happen, but a bit more of a pullis approach of hoofing it up to the big man would not go amiss - obviously replacing kdb's passing would be preferable.

Maresca was chosen for a reason a reason didn't include Pulis hoofing. Truth is we will still face mainly low blocks.

Yep, maresca is probably a form of sensible continuity. Obviously hoping he's brilliant, but can't help feeling he may be a stop gap until VK is ready / available much like pellegrini prior to pep.

I would love to see Vinny back, and I do believe it will happen. But not for a while. Question is for now, if not Maresca who else is there? My only reservation about him is wtf went on when he left Chelsea? Not that he has actually left them yet contractually. On a sunnier note if Alonso is a success at Chelsea and Snot carries on his mediocrity at Pool, how many dippers heads will explode?

The fundametal principles and identity of how we play have been written into our dna by Pep - its the same as Cruyff did at Barca.

Thats the process now, the new managers must now align with those principles, but like Pep said yesterday, they must be themselves, bring fresh energy and improve upon it

Just how Pep looks back on Cruyff's time at Barca, in the furure we will (and do) hold Pep as our very own Cruyff.

Pep has painted our cathedral

Wouldn't shock me if he played a back five.

As of now we've got Guehi, Khusanov, Dias, Gvardiol, Ake and potentially Reis.

With the likes of Nunes and O'Reilly holding through width it affords us the opportunity to get the likes of Doku, Cherki, Foden etc much closer to Haaland.
What do you do with Anderson Rodri/Fernandez 1 of the 2 would be left out,100m player or Rodri

Hoofing it, no.
But we could certainly encourage players to pass it forward more quickly and more often

We need to get vk out of our minds and support maresca, if he is successful then vk wont be needed and i get the emotional connection to vk but the reality is this, vk won the championship and so did maresca and i know hes done well at bayern but the whole system in Germany is set up to help bayern win, its harder not to win the league with bayern than it is to win it.

Chavs in theory should have a good chance with the league and the domestic cup competitions next season as they're not in any European competitions. Let's see how that works in practice....

It's something we've utilised well at times to good effect. The idea we don't play to Haaland's strengths is a bit of a myth. He scored 19 goals in the first half of the season then his form dipped after Christmas.

Much as I would have preferred Enrique, it has to be remembered that Maresca thoroughly and comprehensively outcoached him in the Club World Cup final, he set his team up perfectly that day
The big question is maintaining it over multiple competitions is a long season, rather than a one off game. But he makes perfect sense as a continuity appointment and with few outstanding alternatives available
