We do need more goals though. Our defense was good enough this season.
 
SSN are reporting that City are in talks with Maresca about the timeline of his appointment, his backroom staff and some other small details. They've probably been saying the same thing all day but this is the first time I have watched it today. Kolo Toure is also leaving.

Yes agree, but I would think our second half of the season was better than the fist half without checking. The first half we were very reliant on Haaland second half we’d added Semenyo, we just need more goals from Doku, Cherki, Foden and whoever replaces Bernardo, that’s were the improvement that will give us the edge next season.
 
he needs to hit the ground running. 1st game vs Arse in Cardiff after few friendlies (one of which postponed due to bad weather in some odd place)

then a good PL start needed, to set the tone and make rivals take notic and games coming up quick in CL too where now we surely learnt our lessions of not throwing games and it can cost us a lot later in draws.

results, playing style, tempo, there are lot of issues on all these since treble season, including odd transfer policy, big time for Viana now come out of the shadow of Txiki and Pep and call the shots and take full responsibilty.

we need more of those Gundo, Ederson, Bernardo, KDB , Rodri etc transfers that gaves us 6-7-8 etc years on a high level vs some of our recent trasfer who may not be here in 2 years time due to not hitting any heights.

have my doubts on Maresca, but we will see what he is made of. Slot didnt have experience outside Eredivise and delivered a title first season, with next to nothing transfer help taking over from Klopp. to crash and burn a year later with obscene spending haha.

worst outcome is if Xabi Alonso coming into that Chelsea mess finishing above Maresca - City. or if rags do same with Carrick.

no idea how squad will take onto Maresca, he wont have the aura of Pep, a bad run of games and his ideas might not last long. he had some shit games at Chelsea for sure. particularly remember the two games when we ripped them as they were naive not to sit back during 24-25 PL, played high line and we punished them, while struggled much more deep blocks.

really interested if he can get something out of Foden, Mrmoush, Reijnders and make them as good as we hoped they can be vs what they are currently. wonder what he plans with Cherki. he would have benefited from another season with Pep.

complete new staff too, hope its big work on fitness and set pieces coming.

slow build up has to change, but heard some infos that prefers even slower, safer build up than Pep. our intensity just wasnt great last 24 months, and even 23-24 was already big drop off from 21-22,22-23...

based on the rumours he had few months to prepare for this job tho so its not just once he signs the contract. he must have idea already, hopefully not shit ones. he has absolute zero CL experience I do hope we sign a few CL players. Guehi, Semenyo literally debuted vs Real Madrid in CL and looked as players shocked of this tournament. we cant have that again.

The thing that matter is which games to score extra goals in, not necessarily the number. Score 4 goals during games that were otherwise draws would have seen us as champions again
