Epidural for back pain

had 3 facet joint injections, first one was brilliant, unfortunately only lasted for 3 weeks, second one did nothing, third one seemed to make it worse so i just struggled on, worked part time for a couple of years until i retired. prior to that spent the thick end of 3000 on chiropractor, physio, and accupuncture, charlatans.

My GP has decided to stop using the MY GP app for contacting them.
Clearly too many of us were managing to use it.
So they are spending money on a more complicated on line system from next month.
I expect the next announcement to be machine gun posts and a minefield being installed to further reduce access.

Had a spinal epidural injection two days ago. Seems not to have been the miracle cure I was hoping for.

They're making me jump through every hoop to avoid surgery.

Keep pushing for it mate, although I think I may have over done it and picked up a slight infection in my wound, so laid up feeling sorry myself.

My daughter, who is a graduate sports rehabilitator and is currently in her second year of her physiotherapy masters, told me to share the below as a gentle reminder that not every back injury requires surgical intervention

That’s more or less what I had but out a bit further with some broken bits floating round, I think age is a factor and how long you’ve had the problem, I tried everything to get it back in. Surgery is a last resort and I’d have g,ally not gone through it but I’m a FOC.

I'll post an experts opinion tomorrow (as she's out tonight) but what I can say is that a family friend had back surgery and all it did was exacerbate the problem snd she's now worse that before her operation

Just my opinion but I'd avoid back surgery as long as you can, heard too many stories of it not working

Aft many months I eventually got in for an epidural fro a slipped disc last week, I’d also been reducing my pain killers as they were making me feel ill. It’s now 6 days and I’ve seen no improvement in fact I had it on Wednesday and had to put on a pain patch on the Saturday as I seemed to have regressed 5 months to when I first started with pain. Has anyone had one and when/if did it seem to work? Google say you should know within 2-3 days and the surgeon don’t really commit just saying they work in upto 70% of people!
My mrs had one of these last year and the pain left her in shock
