Eric Bristow abuse slur

In case anyone needs it explaining.

I was subject to sexual abuse in childhood, although it was fairly mild by some standards. I don't necessarily feel anger or hatred. I don't feel obliged to adopt some woolly liberal forgive and forget either. I just hope they've learned to live with themselves because I know people whose conduct in earlier life has wrecked them with self loathing. If they've not felt remorse, well I wish them nothing but misery, I hope they get hit by a fucking juggernaut.

I'm disgusted.

Just like I was 2 days ago when my own dad said "all these people coming out now saying (in a wimpy voice) , "ooh I was abused too".

He was making out that nowadays people only have to look at other's the wrong way or say the wrong thing and you are potentially "abusing" someone. I know what he means but I actually had to point out to him that this is about men raping boys and other such filth.

He's in his 70's and I imagine he's not alone in his generation with that neanderthal attitude.

Someone I know in his 70s said 'all these footballers are jumping on the bandwagon,'. If they'd experienced this kind of thing in their own families I rather suspect they'd be have a much clear headed view of it with all the cynicism well and truly filtered out.

Nothing but respect for your attitude mate.

I just don't get why this sort of behaviour was seen as the norm during this era? What "men" would get off on it and if it was so rife back then is it still going on today at some level? Why did it happen so often?

Also in regards to Bristow he is a proper tool although I think he was calling footballers wimps not the victims as such.

Massive respect

Yeah, and a bit of empathy would help as well.

I think Bristow said it as a publicity stunt and it backfired.

He has always had a big gob and never cared what anyone thought of him.

Knew too many like him in the East End. Some truly vile characters who clearly had no friends yet were so far gone that they didn't care.

Morgan is still a wanker though,Bristow bang out of order completely, but Morgan what a tit he is,who the fuck does he think he is,fucking hate that twat

Moving slightly off topic... In that video Bristow calls that female presenter "darling" and Morgan jumps on it saying "don't you call her darling, she's not your darling!" as if he's some defender of women and a champion feminist.

I want to know when calling people terms of endearment like darling, love, mate or pal became taboo?

I called a barmaid love the other day and another customer told me I shouldn't say that anymore, what the fuck is going on?

Exactly, what the fuck is going on !

Can't stand Bristow, but Piers Morgan is the last person to be taking the moral high ground - it is not too long ago that as Editor of the Mirror he employed a private detective to 'hack' the phone of Millie Dowler

He didn't, that was the news of the world and he didn't work there.

I was having a similar discussion the other day with my aunty. She was talking about how much of a wimp this lad is who said he was abused at the age of 18 (because he wasn't a kid anymore). I don't get that? So now, if an 18 year old woman is raped or sexually harrassed she should just get on with it and not bother to report it? What's the difference between a man and a woman? Some seriously outdated views on this in our society.

In this case it wasnt a 'term of endearment' but rather a condescending and disrespectful remark made in an effort to belittle her opinion.

There's a time and place for everything.

I don't think it was at all. Eric was playing defensive and trying to come across as decent, following his appalling tweets, and I think Morgan jumped on it unnecessarily.

I watched the programme live, and Bristow came across as ignorant, arrogant and chauvenistic, hes nothing but a vile prick.
Each to their own though.
