Hes Catalan, hopefully he wont be tempted to go back to Barca at any point... this is the risk signing Spanish kids as we see Diaz going to Real.
I think he's one of those players that will stay with us as long as Pep is in charge. Hopefully by which time he'll have signed a long term deal which means if he wants to return to Spain, we will get big bucks - a very good business model whilst we continue to dominate, a win, win if you will. Great debut for someone with so little experience.

Could do with a growth spurt but other than that he looks the part. Already looks as confortable on the ball as any of our other CBs and the fact Pep chose him over the 21 year old Sandler who already has a full season of top flight experience shows you how highly he rates him.

Pep Guardiola on last night's debutant Eric Garcia:
"He was incredible. He has a lot – a lot – of personality. In the pre-season, in the United States, he was incredible. He commanded all the [defensive] line.

He played against Liverpool and Bayern Munich, he was incredible."

"He had a tough injury and for two months he could not play with us.

"He is a guy who has a lot of sense of the position. He is so smart; he is not the strongest in the air with the headers, he is not the fastest one, but few times do the opposition win one position where he is.

"He is able to guide the line and has a lot of personality to play – good vision, good passing."

Guardiola added: "I am very pleased for him. He did not make one mistake and with the ball he played with huge personality.

"It's one thing to be in a friendly game in pre-season and another to be in a knockout game. I am so delighted."

When you consider how little Kompany has played this season as 4th choice, I see no reason why Garcia can't take up that spot when Vinny leaves. There is little risk, bar an injury crisis, and even then from what we have seen from Garcia, he looks very assured and a big talent. Kompany's hardly set the world alight in his limited performances this season, and that hasn't affected us. Garcia's performances have been mature and looks like a player beyond his years, which is rare to see in such a position in my opinion.

These are the situations where all I want the club to do is take a punt on a youth player instead of going out and buying someone for £30m to play 15-20 matches a season. We have 3 excellent CB's, give the lad a chance and we may reap the rewards of it. If it doesn't work out, we can always dip into the market, but we'll also find ourselves in a situation where Garcia's value will have been upped significantly as a squad player for City (see Zinchenko).

Pep loves to big academy stars up, but judging by his comments on Eric's injury (keeping him out for 2 months), it sounds like he may have been more involved in the setup. I feel like he's shown enough to be considered for a few more games this season - certainly against weaker opposition, and with Kompany's injury and the Christmas period coming up, there may be some opportunities for him, especially after his excellent performance.

its not really good business model if you lose top class CB. they are rare to find. if he develops as expected, replacement would almost certainly be downgrade

We will see obviously, but im not optimistic this lad is here for long time.

What a talent. Not felt so excited about a young defender since the days of Tommy Caton.
