Eric Garcia joins Barcelona

He just isn't build to play as center back,he lacks many stuff for that position maybe he can be good defensive midfielder.I can't see him as center back on top level.
He wouldn't be able to play defensive midfield either, completely different positional sense required.

The problem with Barca is that Eric is actually really good against teams that Barca can pin back for most of the game, and many fans based on this were really rating him.

But it's not until you face teams that truly test you, and come at you, where you see how good a defender is, and this is where Eric's physicality will let him down. He's either not tall enough, fast enough, or strong enough. You need ATLEAST 1 of these 3 to be elite, but he is meh in all of them, that can only take you so far.

Whilst that's entirely accurate right now, it should be noted he's still just 21 years old, he's barely out of nappies for a centre back. Hes unlikely to grow much or get any faster now but he can easily fill out which will help a great deal. His biggest weakness with us was always he's too easy to bully, it's something that he can fix relatively easily. I don't think he's every going to be a player we will miss but there's potential for a top player in him, he's just been thrust into the deep end too soon, he doesn't have the freak of nature physical attributes to swim in the deep end as a young centre back.

Yes that's true, he shouldn't have trouble packing on some weight and being stronger.

But as you said, don't think he's someone we'll miss, especially at this level, we're only ever gonna regret somebody who will be one of the best in the world in their position.

He’ll never be able to get faster or taller, but I reckon he’d be a better defender if he got himself into the gym most days, took on lots of protein and lifted massive weights.

No reason why he couldn’t bulk up enough to compensate for his lack of height and speed, he could be a reasonable DM then.

Feel like he's just made the move too soon. Should have developed at a lower stature team who aren't, in some way or another, in a perpetual state of transformation. He was just never going to succeed but I still hope he comes good eventually. Always seemed like a good lad.

A good lad who handed in a transfer request the day before a big champions league game?

Fuck him, the little ****.

Puyol, Cannavaro, Mascherano (normally a midfielder but played CB for Barca) ect all small centre backs and wouldn't call and of them incredibly fast but they didn't have to be because they all had an unbelievable football brain and the know how to play centre back.

Let's call a spade a spade, Garcia is absolutely shite and that's never going to change he's nowhere near good enough.

The one thing he had going for him that one half of the Spanish rags liked, was that he was available for nothing.
