Eric Garcia joins Barcelona

Don't begrudge him his apparent dream move. Just kinda feel sorry for him he's joining such a shitshow of a club.

Whatever his faults as a centreback is, well, he's Barcelona's problem now. That is of course, if Barca can register him. ;)

I hope he stays there. He was damn passive when Chiesa scored. For me he seems to weak to be a world class centreback but who am I. Oml reason why he starts in front of Pau Torres is that he is going to play for Barcelona and is apparently Pique‘s ‚heir‘.

I find it almost unbelievable that I've been watching him playing for Spain in these current Euro's, when none of us would have had him anywhere near our starting 11 by choice. From reserve reserve to number one for his country - and. it's Spain - not Slovakia or Montenegro, or whatever.. How is this happening? What makes him desirable to Barcelona? I just don't get it.
He was badly at fault for the Italian goal tonight, and as far as I have ever been able to tell, he just makes up the numbers. When are the media going to have an 'Emperor's new clothes' moment with him? He's fkin shite.
Spain's dearth of centre backs must be worse than their dearth of strikers.
Because you've been probably consuming a diet of toxic English punditry for some time that conditioned you how all players in certain positions should look, move, play, etc. Pep thinks he is an exceptional young defender, Enrique ditto, Barcelona wanted him and got him, but nah, fuck that, what do they know. Probably the same line of thinking that wants to sell 3/4 of all City squad after one bad game.

No, that isn't my line of thinking at all, and whilst some punditry might be toxic, I have heard any pundits talking about Garcia - toxic or otherwise. The opinion is based on what I've seen. If you've seen otherwise, fine by me.

Lots of Garcia stuff in the Grealish thread.
I think this is one of the disappointing parts of our recent past and we need to think beyond the emotions of a fan, sometimes, in my view. Garcia's treatment on here was dire, more so after he had decided to leave. I understand it - he was taking the place of one of 'our own' and some thought he was no better than them. Time will tell how good he is - I happen to think he is a very good young centre back with some things to learn, like all young players. Playing the long game, treating players with respect and care is a quality in a club that creates good PR: players talk and reputation is everything. We want players to speak highly to our coaching team and our club when they go elsewhere, especially young players, as there should be no reason why a player refuses to become a blue - best coaching, most successful, best sports science, best facilities, long term project, best manager...

Well this turned out well for them didn’t it…

I was just having a peek on a Barca forum and it seems they’re finally reaching the same conclusion we did… too many match costing mistakes. I must admit I thought he’d do better in Spain.

Feel like he's just made the move too soon. Should have developed at a lower stature team who aren't, in some way or another, in a perpetual state of transformation. He was just never going to succeed but I still hope he comes good eventually. Always seemed like a good lad.
