It’s a valid argument but there’s no getting away from the fact that when teams come at us our defence often look like they have never played together before in their lives. It’s hard to explain but sadly true.

And it’s not like it has to be that way to play the football we do. It was like that in Pep’s first season but then in the centurions season the defence looked fantastic. Looked a bit ropey at times last season but when Vinnie came back in it looked great again. So it can be done. It’s not just about purely looking at the goals conceded stats either IMO. The dynamic of games and seasons can be massively affected by being all over the place at the back even if chances are missed. It’s not good that teams go into games thinking they are always in with a chance of scoring. In the centurions season it was all so secure at the back that teams often looked beaten from the start.

i think thats the issue with getting young spanish players, especially from barca. they pretty much all want to go back to spain at some point.

i also think he knows we will buy two centre backs, meaning that he wont play as much

Think there is a good chance, though if we can get a contract and 2 or 3 years from him then a decent fee, better than losing him cheap now. The other thing is he may not be the new coaches cup of tea when Pep goes. At least if we get him to sign now we get to see how he develops for 2 or 3 years.
