More like pooyol. In all seriousness he is only 19 so who knows what he will be like on 2-3 years. He is no good to city due to his lack of strength and pace. You only need to look at the Leicester game. Nothing is shouting puyol at all to me as he does not have that aggression. Based on what I see now he is another nastasic decent player but not great.

This is my first post in a while, I don't think Eric has been brilliant, but I also think he has held his own reasonably well after making the step up without actually standing out in the sense that Foden does quite often.

To me this thread just reeks of cognitive dissonance, although it is understandable given our defensive woes now coupled with the LCFC result

There are massive errors in his game, really poor decision making at times. Sure he’s young and can learn but I’ll be amazed if he turns out to be half the player Puyol was. The slower pace in Spain will definitely suit him more though.

Kid is going to be better than Puyol, loads of outstanding qualities to become a legend, I think he could even revolutionize the CB position as his style of defending is just unique. He is also a la masia product so if Barcelona are really interested in rebuilding then there's no one better way to go about it, the signing of Garcia is just what they need and for the price of 25m this is an absolute bargain for Barcelona, get it while its hot! There are other clubs out there interested in him so I am not sure why Barcelona are being reluctant to meet the price, the price is right, the kid is alright, get it while its hot. The transfer window closes in less than a week, I would hate to see Garcia at another team., rumour has it that Real Madrid are also interested in him. I really fear barca might lose this kid, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity, they don't make defenders like Garcia anymore. Barca need to come in and sign up this kid before some other team snaps him up!

The next Puyol ? I always remember him being a brave , blood and guts, do or die kind of defender, here's a quick description I picked up off one site :-

Good luck with that. Just don’t get drawn vs anyone with any pace in the ECL. Because he can pass 5 yards fairly competently does not make him a top defender and I have not been impressed at all. Sunday merely confirmed what I thought. Naive and slow to react. Vardy had him on toast.
