Pace is not everything if you a great reader of the game and a great footballer, but if your an average player and not the greatest footballer, pace can make up you deficiencies.People think pace is everything, it's not. Baresi didn't have much pace, but his positional sense and his determination arguably made him the best defender the game has ever seen. Not saying Garcia has that, too early to tell, but he's rated by those in the game who understand those aspects, i trust them. He's perfect for La Liga, to develop his skills further, exactly like what happened with Pique who looked almost useless before then.

Playing In Serie A during the 80s/90s is nothing like playing for City now.
Sure, you need to be great positionally, but unless you can be in three places at once, that won't work here. Our CBs have little protection, and their positioning will always be some kind of compromise - If you're marking a forward near the centre circle, but the attack starts out wide, with no full backs in sight, then there is no position that can make up for a lack of pace.

Garcia would be quality alongside a quick centreback. Vardy ate him for breakfast because City have no pace in midfield and only have one quick defender in Walker who can't be everywhere.
It would have been ideal to bring through garcia and harwood Bellis together.
