Eric Garcia to Barcelona

I don't think it's a similar situation at all, Brahim's path to getting actual first team minutes was a lot less clear and he certainly hadn't started any significant league/CL games like Garcia has. Going to Madrid was questionable but Pep said his family wanted to move back home, I don't see why him choosing to go there really matters to us considering he was always going to leave regardless and we got a good fee despite his contract being six months from expiring.

Both were tapped up and in Diaz case he was marked out as the one of the EDS lads likely to break through. At least with Garcia he made a few appearances ( a few decent earlier performances) and he had bit longer on his deal.

I couldn`t care less about punishing Garcia that wouldn`t be my reasoning but I do think we should reward another of the up and coming players instead

In a 50:50 decision yes by all means give the start to the player who is committed but if its not then you are cutting your nose to spite your face. If he can help us on the pitch then he should play, if you don't run a fair system where the best players get the game time then it all starts to go sour.

My point is, if he`s leaving for nothing next year why would we give Garcia any playing time. This would only give Barcelona a more experienced player.

If we are going to give game time and experience it should be to a player we think wants to make a career with us.

Or one that will help us win things.

I'll look at this in a positive light and say he has heard Messi is definately coming. As for Garcia, I hope he doesn't get a single game with him. Loan him to a CFG team if we can't sell this summer.

True but - these things are a constant in football, there are always players on the way out. Do you pick on the better ones as you want to punish them for not signing and send a warning /make an example for others who might think the same. Or do you just let it ride and look to create the best environment for the players and hope that by doing that you have the best chance of keeping the ones you want when it next comes around.

I think it is mostly the latter, with a small exception for players that are arse holes or who dont show the club the same respect (and by that i would completley ignore the wets on bluemoon who take offence at anything).
Has there been something worked out between Barca and Garcia? otherwise do you really believe he would take the risk of Barca possibly losing interest if he loses form or gets injured? They are taking the piss.

In my option he`s been given game time for the experience and to lever other players out not because he`s the stand out best option.

Sounds like you failed to interpret his words as well, that happens when you have an agenda and hear what you want to
Agenda ? I like the kid and i wanted him to stay but he is a kid expecting we will do what he wants and he will go for free, that is some attitude to have,we gave him where he is to this point,he gets sold if he is not signing, i am not surprised you think that is reasonable, you echo the arrogance of that shithole

This is classic 1990's thinking. There was a thing called the Bosman ruling and everything changed.

Bottom line is that if a player really wants to go some where else and they turn down money / run down there contract to get it then I have no issue with it - its how the game is (and has been for like 10 years+). It's a booth ways thing. Can Messi go fuck himelf or are you ok with that one? Do you begrudge Silva signing on elsewhere having run down his deal with us? It is what it is and good luck to him.
Dave is completely different , we let all our oldies go for free, it is a respect thing , this kid thinks he gets the same, it is laughable

Why did Garcia say he has one year left with City? I'm sure I saw on a transfersite his contract was ending in 2022.

I agree with you on most things but this is just wrong. You can't sell a player without his permission, if he wants to leave next year on a free, that's his prerogative. At this stage, it's entirely his decision unless we terminate his contract, however we haven't got grounds to terminate his contract as he's clearly stated he's happy to fulfil the remainder of his contractual obligations.

The moment Garcia said he wanted out was the moment I wanted him to go. I don't want to see any player at our club no matter how good they are or how good they potentially are.

I Agree with that. The buying club still have to pay fair to get said player though. Abd therein lies the issue at the moment, barca have taken the piss so far.

He wants to go to barca but he expects to go on a free, that is not happening, i am agast at his position ,we have given him incredible training and advanced his game , he should respect that , he is a kid ffs

Tapped up! Welcome to the world of football.

90% of the players in our youth teams were "tapped up" by us!

Being a kid is irrelevant, although it does mean technically we will get a tribunal fee according to the Bosman ruling, probably very little compared to what we would want as a transfer fee.

I don't have a problem with Garcia not extending but staying for next season. Harwood-Bellis is not quite ready yet so what is the problem with Garcia staying and Harwood-Bellis taking over his slot when he leaves next year. That way we have the same squad numbers and buy the time needed.

The agenda is you interpret what you want to in order to indict the person/player.

What did you genuinely expect Garcia to say when asked about his pending departure? Yes, I am signing for Barca...provided a fee is agreed upon between two hostile negotiating teams?

He has a contract, he is not renewing it - he otherwise intends to honor his contract if a fee is not agreed upon. As per usual, the outcome is clear that the player leaves. Question is only when & for how much
