Erling Haaland

I highly doubt such a decision, from either party, would be made after 2/3 seasons at most.

Precedent dictates we get our money's worth and cut them loose.

The Sané part I can't agree with just down to my opinion on the player.
Didn’t we have an offer or talk of an offer of that amount just before he got injured

I was with you but I've changed my mind on this. For City to take the next step as a club we need a superstar. We've been by far the most dominant club in England for 10 years and yet today United are able to boast that they have the biggest social media presence of any club in the world. City aren't even in the top 10.

I know a lot of people will say "who gives a shit?" but the fact is this sort of stuff affects our attractiveness to commercial partners and players, and by extension the sustainability of our success.

United are in a position where they've been run like an absolute shambles for 10 years and they're still, still only a couple of transfer windows away from being serious contenders. They still blow City out of the water with revenue and our deals are still concentrated on a load of businesses in Abu Dhabi.

That's all based on their commercial operation, which has been built on the likes of Beckham, Rooney, Ronaldo, Pogba. Haaland has the same quality, the man is a battering ram and a lightning bolt at the same time, and he hits the ball harder than anyone I've ever seen. He'll be a game changer on and off the pitch.
What an insecure and condescending post and wrong on many levels! First let's point out the fact United are not the club with the biggest social presence. The 2 biggest Spanish clubs are clearly over them in this part. Also City are obviously and clearly in top 10 of clubs in social engagements. How anyone could peddle this lie is beyond me. A rundown of top football teams and a cursory glance at their social media pages and you'd know this. In fact when the Dippers were still yakking non stop of their last CL win we already passed them in this social media part. Their CL runs and first PL win resuscitated their languishing and stagnant support. Their engagement exploded. They have now managed to outpace both City and Chelsea.

Second in both Deloitte and Forbes list City have been consistently rank top 6 for many seasons now and second in the league after United. Yes United have suck for many years now but they started at a high and dominant position and until City get close to their years of domination then the chances of our club surpassing them in revenue and support in the very near future are slim to none. I don't see this as negative as I'm not overly bothered with this things. Quality of play and results on the field are the most essential thing. The sponsors and support will naturally follow and in this regard I don't think you can fault the club in this areas.

Lastly I will say you sounded like a pathetic hater when you claim United are blowing City out of the water with their deals. Our revenue have been growing very well and closing in on United. City's sponsorships are also not just Abu Dhabi freebies as our most deranged haters would like to believe. You think Deloitte would give us such a high ranking year in and our if our revenues were not good and properly vetted.

In the current market with players running contracts down, I'd be tempted to add a clause that he can never run down a contract beyond the final 18 months (if that's possible) but we'll accept any offer over £150m+.

It’s probably illegal/unenforceable. You could have a unilateral option to renew it for another year instead.

He can’t wear all Blancos white with his hair, surely

Is there a website which shows a league table of social media clicks/likes/views or whatever in relation to sports teams?

Yesterday a Catalan journalist went on tv and discussed what he said were Barcelona’s highest wages. He claimed Pique makes €28M a year. The player went on Twitter and showed it was bullshit. He makes €4.6M per season. The club pays half until December 31st and the other half until the last day of the season.

Keep this in mind as rumors heat up in the coming months.

Goes to Madrid there he will score shitloads in that 3rd best league in Europe gets the accolades more chance of winning ballon d'or he be there for his best years because you don’t leave Madrid if you still score shitloads and still a top player that’s the pluses.

Comes here

Score shitloads has pep to learn and improve still will have the option to go to Madrid after 4/5 years. Now for me it’s a no brainer why wouldn’t you want to play for your boyhood club;) learn if pep then still go to a Madrid unless Haaland thinks they won’t want him.

Should be enough to put that journalist out of a job by Pique there.

1/ I'm referring to these stats that were released yesterday.

2/ You've just confirmed my point that United still have higher revenue than City in spite of 10 years of dominance. Marketable "superstars" helped them get to that point. This is a plus for getting Haaland imo.

3/ UAE based sponsorships. At no point have I said the deals aren't fair value or properly vetted. That's been sorted in court. But if you think it's sheer coincidence that so many sponsorship deals come from that part of the world then you're being a bit naive.

4/ I don't hurl insults at people on here and I've had a season ticket for 27 years now. I don't deserve and won't take all the vitriol you've thrown at me for a thoughtful and alternative viewpoint, so I won't respond to you again. Grow up.

2.3M x 12 = 28M
He will have taken Pique December pay and assumed it's monthly payment.
Does sound odd to get paid in two halves.

Pique must be struggling to buy Christmas presents if he's not getting paid until 31 December and have to load up the plastic.

€4.6m is what he declares to the Spanish tax authorities, the rest is “bonus” perhaps? Back on topic, when is Erling coming?

That first paragraph wins the BM prize for the longest sentence ever! Who needs punctuation anyway?
