Haha. Do you think I care that much? You really overestimate the importance of all this stuff to me.
I think you care a bit yeah or you wouldn’t post about it so frequently and run a podcast. That suggests you care more than most fella.

I think it means they’re very serious. If their owners can afford it, why not have a whole team on that much or more, if it gets them the very best players and wins them the CL a few times?

Not for me. Their squad is massively unbalanced as is their starting XI. Putting that much money into a keeper is bad business when they need two full backs, a DM, a CB, and maybe more. I also think it's hard to keep dressing rooms happy when you have such disparity in pay.

I'm talking about caring about being right or wrong in the eyes of people like you. I'm arsed mate, but crack on. I'm not here for a dick measuring contest as I said to the other guy.

Even my own brother doesn't believe me on Grealish!

At least Billy said to me we had to sell some big names first to bring in someone else after a striker.

I certainly didn't expect Bernard's name to have come up in recent days :(

Many a slip b'twixt cup 'n lip. It's why I think it's important not to crow too early about how right you are ;)

This is pretty much it really, isn't it? Pep appears to want Kane so that is what City are going to push for. The club are going to concentrate on giving Pep what he wants rather than looking at the long-term planning.

You can understand it from Pep's point of view and also with the knowledge that it is very hard for the club to go against his wishes given what he's done. Still can't help but be slightly disappointed and genuinely believe if Chelsea get Haaland it will come back to haunt City. We'll just have to wait and see though.

I would actually have no issue with this, IF kane was actually the better player, or heck even the cheaper option. But for me, he is neither. There is maybe logic in him being more obtainable, on the sole assunption that he really does want to comand and Haaland perhaps doesn't. But I just struggle to beleive that, and certainly don't see anything to suggest both at this point in the window. And even if one or both do go as far as handing in formal transfer requests, their clubs will still hold out for a huge fee, so a long long way to go yet.

This changes nothing. Even if he had done zero interviews, anyone who wants him has to pay a determined fee
True but if they don't sell him they're left with a player who's already said he wants out. I think both parties would be pretty unhappy with that.

I've actually seen claims from Spurs aligned reporters suggesting City originally came knocking for Kane last summer and were politely told to fuck off.

We supposedly enquired again in January, with the fuck off less force
Correct,Not ITK but heard it in passing and didn't think much of it then that we started putting out the feelers to his camp between late 2019 and early last year and last summer we formally approached Spurs and HK was desperate to leave, for obvious reasons, nearly going public with it,a crisis but Mourinho convinced him to stay for one last shot, and we did it again in January this year with a view to this summer (and yes I know much of this is in the public domain now but heck)
So Kane has been in the working for 2 years? now as far as I know,,this isn't a plan B to Haaland or anyone..He's been THE one Pep has always wanted for a long time, not that his admiration for him could be more public, and the hierarchy would never 'force' Haaland or anyone else on him regardless

We do tend to work the long game with players even if it isn't massively public all the time. I definitely raised an eyebrow when one of the Spurs / London writers said we'd approached him and the club last summer!
