If we could do a deal at £150m with Riolas fee included then we should be all over that.
That’s assuming we’ve got £150m to spend.
Riola gets a bad rep, some of it is deserved, some not so much.
Not all of his players want to move on.
People mention Pogba, but he’s just as big of an arsehole as Riola.
IF it was 150m all in I hope we would rip their hands off and agree and I think we would.

Absolutely I agree, 10 years player for us. Fuck Kane.

LOL FREE run?

150m Plus fee

50m Agent fees

Wages 350-500k week 5 Year Deal

150m Sell on Clause

some FREE run ;)
Surely you don't believe anyone would sign a player for 150M with 150M sell on clause, where did you get your figures?
That aside that deal is still well worth doing

I would believe anything is possible when dealing with Riola,

If you want an example, go and look at the Pogba deal.

I don't understand why the Haaland family would want anything to do with him, but each to their own.

Option 1:
So let's assume the Haaland deal could be done for the following:
  • 140M to Dortmund
  • 40M to Agent
  • 30M signing on fee for player
  • Wages 450k pw based on achieving bonuses, base (300k)
We're looking at 210M and hopefully a 6 year contract
Say he stays with us for 6 years and no changes to wages for duration, taking 400k as averaged weekly wage.

210M + 125M = 323M over 6 year period

Option 2:
Kane and Grealish

Kane
  • 120M to Spurs
  • 20M to Agent
  • 20M signing on fee for player
  • Wages 350k max pw based on achieving bonuses, base (250k)
160 and a 5+1 contract, let's assume average weekly of 300k
210M + 93.6M = 253.6 over 6 year period

Grealish
  • 88M to Villa
  • 15M to agent
  • 10M signing on fee for player
  • Wages 220k max pw based on achieving bonuses, base (180k)
113 and 6 year contract, let's assume weekly of 200k
113 + 62.4 = 175.4 over 6 year period

So Haaland (323M) and KaneGrealish (429M) based on 6 year contract
Delta of 106M, that money could be used more effectively promoting one or two of the youth players alongside Delap who is promoted in either scenario.

Now I'll hold my hands up, the numbers used in the calculations aren't exact, so appreciate if you can highlight anywhere I have made major issue with my numbers or the calculation.

Commendable effort and dedication, but all figures are subject to speculation.

I want Haaland badly, not a fan of Kane, but the former is untried, however good he looks and he does look very special. Giving him a crazy wage at this stage could and probably would lead to issues in the dressing room.

Dealing and bringing Riola into the camp is not something you want to do in an ideal world.

In my humble agent fees are a disgrace that are killing the game, if a player wants to hire an agent, no problem, but they pay them, lock , stock and barrel.

Why on earth should we pay Grealish's agent 1 penny ? If we as a club want to move on a player, then we should pay the agent fees, but never when bringing a player to the club and especially for players that WANT to join us.

Be nice if football was played on paper.

If you believe Haaland is staying on a 6yr contract with no change in wages, no huge bonuses and no threat of leaving then your living in the clouds.

15m to Grealish agent and 20m to Kane's seems very high, there is no precedent for that figure for those players.

You also cannot just say just buy Haaland and promote a youth player, zero guarantee any youth player is as good as Grealish and if they are not then you have to go and spend a fortune on a player anyway. The only possible comparision you can do is Kane v Haaland and by all accounts, thats already been done and Kane was chosen, the sooner people accept the better.

o such thing as a 10 year contract Bill.
We could do a 5 or a 6 and then offer him a further contract where we pay him so much that it exceeds the amount he’d get by walking at the end and taking a £multimillion signing on fee, but the only thing we could rely on when signing the initial contract would be the initial contract term.

Interesting perspective, thanks for putting that together. My biggest takeaway from that, is just how eye-watering those numbers are, whichever of those routes you go.

No because Grealish would be dependent on a sale so doesn't enter into it. Now campare just Kane v Haaland with your guessed figures. On the other hand I wouldn't bother because Haaland doesn't seem to be a target and probably won't move this summer.
