We already pay the likes of Kev, Sterling, and Sergio in the region of £250k a week. Halland would be happy with that.

It's the £100mill+ Dortmand would want for him that would be the problem. We would have to break our transfer structure to do that.

City officials have regulary made a point about the players we have signed only costing a fraxtion of what the other clubs, like the Rags and Scousers, have paid for their players.

In a normal world you’d say £250k a week was more than enough but in reality it’s not. Look at De Jong and de Ligt’s wage demands. Some team (not us) will pay Haarland north of £300k a week and his agent circa £20m.

I confidently predict we will be all over this but get pipped at the last minute by someone prepared to pay more.... it’s happened time and time again. We don’t do the biggest transfers... that said it’s not served us badly missing out on the biggest targets but some of our prudence has perhaps started to see a decline in the general standard of the squad.
Let’s hope the fact he’s a boyhood blue helps us out so.

And if we stick with that we're going to get left behind. We got away with it for the last few seasons because we had Silva, Yaya, Vinny and a younger Aguero and Fern.

Now we no longer have players good enough to carry the cheaper signings, so to remain serious title challengers and deliver the CL that apparently our owner wants we need to sign the best available. If rag and Barca can afford them we sure as hell can.

If we stick to a mid level wage structure we'll end up a mid level team.

I don’t see why his agent would be happy with that salary when teams are paying way more than that for non striking positions
