Erling Haaland

The financials would stack up even more when we do sell Raheem for £50m and lose his £300k a week.

Granted, Sergio's wages were absorbed by Grealish, but £14.4m per year freed up on Sterling is not to be sniffed at.

We were going to hand Kane £300k a week and also pay a £100m transfer, so even my fag packet maths, says we can do £600k a week wages no problem, whatsoever.

Add the circa £50m Sterling fee to the supposed £100m saved on not signing Kane, and even Haaland's £65m release leaves us the best part of another £85m to play with.

That's more than enough to absorb the related costs and massive signing wedge on top of Haaland's weekly £600k.

Even reading that back has convinced me the finances give us a real fighting chance!!!!
Ahem there's also erm Mendy's wage. We will however need a replacement for fern when he hangs up his boots at the end of the season.

Cancelo's playing as good as any LB we could conceivably sign and we have Zinchenko who's barely kicked a ball this season, who was our first choice LB last season and completely solid in our European run.

Wilson-Esbrand also looked pretty tidy in his cameo.

It's an area we can improve on at some point, but it isn't a glaring weakness.

The glaring weakness was Pep continuing to persist with Mendy.
We only have 3 fb's in the squad, so either the kid is given a proper chance or we need to sign one.

Paying someone 600k a week will surely rock the apple cart when it comes to other players negotiating their contracts. I dont think it's quite as easy as some make out.

at some point we need to break our wage limit to remain competitive in the future 400k a week can't be our limit forever haaland is already one of the best strikers in the world hes worth us paying a lot more than what we normally pay players.

I can’t inagine we would pay the fee or the wages, there is some desperation in people keep pushing this. I would imagine the club are looking elsewhere.

If Haaland had never been born would we be stuffed? No is the obvious answer, if he signs for another club should we turn the lights off? No is the obvious answer. We will do fine without him. In fact if we can get 3 players instead for the same price the team as a whole could do even better than if we spunked daft money on him.

Well every single attacking player has had a year now to step in and do the striker's job and failed. So I'm not sure how any of them will be able to successfully argue during their next negotiation they should be paid like a striker. "Different gravy" as someone said.

Dino wages + we will move a couple more out in the Summer inc Sandler, Poro, Mendys wages will be gone 100% then of course will we keep Berny & Laporte?

we dont really need 3 other players we need a striker and hes the best option. Obviously we can survive without him but wouldn't it be great for us to just buy a world class player not by someone who we need to spend time developing. Obviously he'd need to adapt to us and the league but he would be great for us imo.

I disagree, because we’re already so good in every other position it would be very difficult to improve on what we already have. No point signing three players, who would we replace? It’d be a waste spending £150m or whatever on positions already good enough.

All we need is a proper, top class striker, which we need to focus our efforts and money on.
