Erling Haaland

because the market has changed and in recent years (since those sighings) we dont seem to have been that shrewd tbh

Positives
Laporte - will turn out to be a bargain.
Brnardo Silva - worth every penny and more

to be seen
Rodri - probably worth what we paid but not a bargain

Not worth it"
Danillo - I thought he was decent but obviously didnt want to be here
Mahrez - Dont believe he will be worth the money
Cancello - not expensive but doesnt seem to have been worth it and wants to leave
Mendy - absolutely not worth the money we paid for him
Angelino - playing wise not worth it but will make us money I suppose

Ive not included Scott Carson - as complete unknown and hasnt cost us anything

Who are the other recent signings? I cant think of any others that have been signed in the same time frame
Ctid 1894 from here mate

Fair enough.
Coming back to Haaland we need a superstar winger and striker in the ilk of Sane and Aguero. I am a big fan of jesus but we would need another striker when aguero eventually moves. There are only few known players which can replace these two (Sane/Aguero).
Haaland and Sancho - Will be an excellent move but will cost a bomb.
Dembele from Barcelona - Injury prone and a bit temperamental but an excellent player when fit and can do an amazing job with Pep.
Rest are all 18/19 year old youngsters and i want our scouting network to find such a player so that we don't have to pay a bomb to Dortmund.
but Haaland is a no brainer next season.

I really like Son Heung-min but dealing with both Levy and Mourinho is such a pain so lets' see.
I really want us to pooch atleast one of Dortmund's young team

Agree with you on the vast majority of that as well

Sancho Id stay away from - he has already left us once - I dont tink he would come back if we wanted him to

Haaland as you say is a no brainer - I just dont think we would pay the money willing to get him so i just dont see it

Ive said Son before - he is someone Id def have - quick and clever and can probably play anywhere along the front line - however dealing with the spurs hierachy would be a nightmare as you say

The loss of Aguero and Sane in two seasons seriously weakens our attack and not replacing them with a similar level of player (remembering that replacing Aguero is nigh on impossible) must be pur prirority after sorting out the defence hopefully this transfer window and /or inthe winter one.

I again come back to the scouting part as well as the temperament part when it comes to new signings.
1. We have to throw some exorbitant money on a player in the current market to get the desired result. Exhibit A : Van Dijk
Not all players can be bargains
2. If we are not going the Galactico way then the other players around our expensive signings should be unearthed gems or bargains or academy. Exhibit A : Matip Gomez Robertson and TAA
I am taking all Liverpool examples as they are our competition now.
Let's talk about United as the way to splash money. They are as stupid as one get in the transfer window but they did pretty good with AWB Maguire and now Fernandez

Wd don't have to throw money at our problems but some players require a record breaking deal. And if we don't wanna do that lets make our scouts earn their money by getting us some players on bargains. This Cancelo-Danilo-Walker-Mendy-Stones scenario is pretty alarming with some 200 mils of investment and except walker no one else could cement their spot in the team.

Hopefully we do better this transfer window.

Wow , you would sanction 85 million for Maquire on 300 grand a week. Don't apply for a job at City

Danilo was pretty good, £25m for a versatile 2nd choice defender, 2 years of service and then he wanted to leave to be a starter. We got £30m for him which we then reinvested to get Cancelo. Cancelo's been here a year and if he stays he'll no doubt get more time next season, as everyone does under Pep. Mendy, well the guy's just had the worst luck in the world with injuries, but without that god knows what he could've been? Way he was playing early on he looked a star. Walker? All round success story and earned his big pay rise last summer. Stones has came and whilst never looking like he's reached his potential, he's always looked like he wasn't finished yet - and his partnership with Laporte was flourishing quite nicely until Laporte got injured. Yes he's a bit mentally weak but he's had a load of personal issues and injury trouble too. Maybe he gets one more chance if theres no solid interest.

And you make it sound like finding bargains is so easy or creating gems in the academy is so easy and it simply isnt. TAA is the first decent player their academy has produced probably since Gerrard. Gomez they bought as a prospect much like we have with Garcia. Robertson was one we probably missed out on, but would you say a relegated Hull LB was better than title winning Monaco's in 2017?

As for United. They massively overpaid for AWB and Maguire, on fee and wages. We were in for Maguire. We offered an exorbitant 65m and 200k wages ffs! That's definitely more than he's worth. Would've liked him don't get me wrong but I'm not crying over the fact we didn't sign him. Same with AWB, yes he's young and looked great at Palace but he's not that good - if Cancelo turns into the player we bought which I think he will, we've done better. And Fernandes? What is this? Battle of the portuguese midfielders? We paid less for Bernardo, a better player, 3 years ago. Thank god you're not running our transfers

Now that's just preposterous. I just said few players deserve that amount of money. "FEW"
Maguire is not one of them VVD is
Is that kind of player comes into the market which can change the whole team dynamics then why not

Yes thank god I am not running our transfers because I would only be doing it when I have all the data scouting and research report but that shouldn't stop me from commenting on the team I support. And just to reiterate what I said before, the United transfers did good to their defence and midfield, they are the team that throws money at their problems a few others rely on the scouting and We combine good scouting with relevant fees to get our players. We did pretty well when we talk about forwards and midfielders but our defence - we definitely overpaid
Our scouting, as well as buys, have been iffy when it comes to defence. And I don't like the merry go around that keeps on happening with our fullbacks and yet only walker is the one which can be defined as a true success

I read, "they did pretty good with....Maguire ....."
City did want him, I personally know that, he wanted to come, but wanted more than any other city player in terms of wages, and you think we should have paid it? Or did we do the right thing in walking away.

Definitely the right thing by walking away. 100 per cent. I meant some players are not worth walking away from. Imagine a KDB bidding war in 2019(If he was still playing for Wolfsburg) with Liverpool United Real Madrid in the mix. That's the player worth throwing a 100 mil for. And we definitely do great in the attack and Midfield department.See -B. Silva KDB Jesus or Sane
It's just the defence I want us to do better. Like a Koulibaly transfer which will make our defence world class and give space for Garcia and other youngsters to develop. And its better said than done. Dealing with Napoli is a pain in the arse but that's just another topic

And there is the problem.
The lad at Athletic, Felix, I kept reading on here , pay 120 mil, get it done. He has hardly been a superstar so far has he ?
I have started to watch Haaland more closely, potential yes, but a ready made 130 million footballer, far from it at the moment.
Spending another persons money is easy. You don't need to give it back.
