Totally agree. The thing is, if any of our players had actually stood up to Keane that day - not necessarily punched him, just got in his face - he would have piped down. The Man was, and is, a shit house and a coward.
Watch him against Wimbledon, particularly against Vinnie Jones, and he was getting kicked left and right and never reacted at all. Quiet as a mouse. And bear in mind, Vinnie jones for all his carefully cultivated image was never a true hard man. He was simply an uncultured thug. And Keane shit himself and never went near him the whole game. There’s highlights on YouTube you can watch. It’s hilarious.
probably an urban myth this next bit as I certainly didn’t witness it myself, but a good friend told me of a time he was out in altrincham and saw Keane largeing it in the Cresta Court one night, being a bit of an obnoxious twat, giving random lads evils etc and some bloke about 5’9 or so took exception and absolutely smashed him to bits in about 10 seconds.
Like him as a pundit, hated him as a player. A coward and a bully. And to this day I still haven’t forgiven the city side that day for not standing up for a teammate.
