Could be right . I know a lot on here would love to sign him and yes I think he would score lots for us but I just think we will break our structure to get him and then it could issues within the camp .
A lot of sense in what you say especially as signing him would not be the controlling factor in how our 2022/23 season pans out. Yes he would be great addition to the squad but with so much creative talent in the team a less expensive option could contribute 20 + goals a season in the PL.

Its's not just getting him though... it's stopping a rival getting him and improving them significantly

Always felt that as a stratagy buying someone to stop another team getting them demonstrates inferiority and desperation. Not characteristics City suffer from. It usually leads to overpaying and disruption in the dressing room. I think that there might be evidence quite close that supports this argument.

I agree in a lot of cases. There is a suspicion that the club ‘close to home’ were suckered into buying some of those players who turned out not to be what they thought they were getting

this lad is different. He’s the real deal and as a couple of examples, if either of the two red clubs got him they would be vastly better next season

They would still have to deliver the ball to him, he cannot do it all himself. Basically I am saying that he would improve us and yes probably improve a red team even more. But the dippers would only afford him from money they get from selling Salah. Not sure he would give pool anymore goals than Salah has been doing. And they would have to pay him what Salah is asking for. As for the rags they have got goal scorers but they need a new defence first, although they could carry on throwing more money at positions they don't need players for.

I’d like to see how Alvarez gets on tbh

I think the difference between top quality and the second tier would be where those goals come. Top tier can score against the best defences, like Aguero. Important goals that are really worth double.

Second tier will get their goals in the 5-0 demolitions of lower teams where we'd typically get 3 pts anyway

That's just not true. No team in the world bullies City. We give as much as we get to them all. The likes of Walker, Laporte, Dias, Rodri, Bernado...all of them really. They are tough as old boots.

What we have is iron discipline: we don't retaliate, we don't lose our rags, we don't get stupid sendings off. It's one of Pep's qualities which goes under the radar. On the occasions when a player slips these standards, like Walker the other week, he comes down like a ton of bricks.
Bang on the money there DD

I do like him and as previously mentioned perhaps one criticism of the current City squad is they're all a bit too nice, polite and easy going on the pitch and we could perhaps do with someone who is a bit more fiery.
Bu I do worry if his temperament could see him getting regularly wound up and sent off in the PL if he's not playing for one of the favoured teams who play in red.
I think been are now considered "One of the favored teams." Even though lots of City fans don't recognize it, but long term winning does bring being favored.

At least in the eyes of outsiders.
