You’re right of course, that’s how we all knew about every football club that FSG bought long before the parties had agreed the deals and why we’ve never ever been surprised by a player purchase.

And, of course, why your predictions are never ever wrong.

As I said, matters that are commercially confidential are kept confidential and those matters where confidentiality doesn’t matter are allowed to a wider audience.
If the wider audience thinks it gets to hear everything then more fool the wider audience because that’s not how business works.

Gross naivety? Really? Well Google CFG and look at all the things you didn’t know were going to happen and then see where the hat fits.
I don’t think TH is saying he knows everything but that he gets to hear some things. Big difference.

If this is true what's your reason for being on the transfer forum? I'm confused.

Well Dobsy, this discussion started because some dink was saying words to the effect that everything gets out / there are no secrets in football because he knows a girl who knows everything.

I pointed out that, as in all businesses, there are matters of commercial confidentiality that remain confidential because business professionals do stuff like that for a living regardless of whether it’s footie or some other industry.

When it comes to transfers where a player is, in effect, being auctioned to the highest bidder and agents are trying to play one club off against another and clubs are briefing favoured journo’s etc then there are obviously a lot of rumours flying round, and we all love a good rumour.
However, we don’t ever get to know the elements involved that are held in confidence because those elements are indeed confidential. So we never know in advance how much a club are ultimately willing to bid etc.

Beyond that there are player purchases and, as I pointed out, the purchases of complete football clubs (ground, players, staff all in) that are kept entirely confidential as both you and I know from what we’ve seen CFG do down the years - thus proving the original point that matters that are held in confidence are not chatted about openly in the club canteen.

I didn’t say that nothing gets out, I didn’t say that no rumours have any substance, what I said was that business professionals can keep schtum in football just as business professions can keep schtum in all other industries.

Then I get a line of rumour merchants trying to unpick that because their stock in trade and very status requires magic beans to be always truly magic.
I even got accused of being naive but if you’re a thinking man and you read the above you’ll understand that what I’ve written and the examples given from the activities of our own senior company (CFG) proves the point I made - and that’s despite the best efforts of some to put a spin on my words to try to twist them to say something else entirely.

Mind you, if I knew a girl who worked at a football club or I had a cousin who ran a £400 million hedge fund and they both had to unburden their innermost secrets to me then maybe I’d see this from a different perspective.

And regards being in a transfer forum, I come in here for the banter and it serves to show me how few rumours ever had anything in them and how many were the usual bullshit that the truly naive amongst us can unfortunately hang their hats on.

It's gross naivety or arrogance on your part.

Instead of taking magic beans, perhaps take a more humble view that there are always people who have access to information and readily share it whichever sphere they work in.

We get company takeovers discussed on the golf course FFS!

There are huge chains of departments across football.
Nearly spat my coffee at the company takeover line. Last month there were endless rumours Mandriant were being sold, possibly to Microsoft, and then this month they were sold to Google. "Buy the rumour sell the news" shapes the stock market and this guy is on about magic beans.

FSG?

You seem prepared to die on a hill which does not exist, one which is dismissive of journalists, financial or sporting, who every day gain access to sensitive information from a wide variety of sources.

Commercial confidentially will pass through the hands of departments ranging from legal, HR, medical, family, team-mates.

Those doing the deals at the very top can only control what they can control and cannot legislate for leaks.

I can't speak from an Apple or Facebook perspective, but from a football and media one, a need to know basis does not preclude the flow of information, certainly when a journalist will protect their sources and ensure no blow back.

Players purchases can come out of nowhere, or they can be reported well in advance because an agent (someone with skin in the game) wants to push something over the line.

With regards my own predictions, they aren't such. They are bits of information which come through various channels and I wish to share, even when it is commercially sensitive for me personally.

You originally stated how business does not work like such at the highest level and your caveat is the wider public does not get to hear everything.

Nobody is stating they do, your assertion is that the wider public do not get to hear anything of a sensitive or private nature.

That's simply not the case and never has been, certainly in journalism.
Listen… Some of us think you’re Txiki, while some of us think you’re a bald fraud. Deal with it.

Blackpool eh?.......he could go snorkeling for turds and tampax......what more could a man want?
Cheers mate. Just brought back a traumatic memory.

Coming out of the Sea as a small Child in the 70s covered in pink Bog Roll with shit all over it and my Sister stood there pointing at me screaming, and everyone turning around looking, .bwhaaaa

Do they still do Pink Bog Roll ?

Yeah you see I don’t think you are going to get that much “banter” with your last paragraph and general attitude. No need for you to go into how clever you are.
