Just Dortmund spin a sort of "we didn't want him anymore".
Let’s be clear. In the last press conference, Marco Rose clearly said he is improving everyday but still training and playing with some pain, in the same answer that everyone quotes. This is the typical footballer life (or athletes in general). However, I do think it was out of place for him to bring up a comment like “he doesn’t want to take an MRI”, even if I don’t think that is as spectacular or cynical as some do, but rather regular. The club could say “you either take it or you won’t play”, or deal with this internally. That is why clubs don’t even announce which player had covid. And it does feel like a general media spin from the club losing him and the club that needs a media narrative to justify not getting him. For instance, last season Jadon Sancho had an injury that kept him out of 9 Dortmund games (including the Champions League round of 16 against Sevilla and QF against us, and in that period also games with the national team). Yet another example of the beauty that is the Dortmund medical department (Sancho himself had quite a few other injuries over there, some kept him out for a long time as well). But did anyone hear anything about this when United was signing him or even discussed publicly?
If our medical team says no, it’s for the best. Highly unlikely though. He isn’t fucked, he’s subject to a shocking medical team over there. It would just be our luck to get everything In place, all agreed only for It to collapse due to the medical.
