we can't technically sign haaland until the summer anways because the transfer window isn't open right? so it will always be possible to collapse until then.

I'm happy to be wrong about this.

We can sign him and pay Dortmund the transfer fee whenever we want. We cant register him as a City player until 1st of July as that's when the transfer window opens again

“the attractiveness of real madrid … goes beyond any money manchester city can offer”

i’ll say – mbappe’s gonna be on £850k p/w, no one in our squad makes half that

Always makes me laugh when people think Real, Barca or United can sign anyone they want. We may have lived long enough to witness those clubs having great successes, but few clubs have been as successful as City over the last decade, which matters far more to the kids coming through the academies than some “history” before they were born. City have as good a chance as anyone at signing any player.

The reason we haven’t bought a lot of superstars is because the club generally hasn’t gone after them. After the “success” of Pochettino’s Spurs, the club decided to mostly target promising young players, spending £20-60m a pop, and casting a wide net. I seem to recall Khaldoon talking about this in an interview.

City have the best manager in the world, play in the best league in the world, play arguably the best football in the world, have some of the best facilities in the world and have one of the best squads in the world. We pay competitive salaries and have had a huge amount of success on the pitch. There is not a single other club that can boast all of the above.

I swear he said the same about KDB when we bought him.

Writing in his Daily Star column, Merson said: "City getting Erling Haaland won't make them unstoppable - I'd rather have Harry Kane! Kane is a better player in my opinion. Haaland is lightning quick. But Kane is better all-round player who is proven in this league and you know he'll be a hit for you.

"City could spend all the money in the world on Haaland. I still don't know if he'd be a hit. Sign Kane? Bang - 30 goals. No worries. And how many assists as well? This League title would have been done and dusted if City had had a centre forward. If they'd signed Kane last summer it would already be over.

"Haaland has plenty of pace and is a good finisher. He will score goals for City if they get him, and it looks like they will. But there won't be a lot of grass in front of him at City. Look at Romelu Lukaku. He has the same problem.
For someone who used to be a very talented footballer himself, you'd think he'd recognise the talents and potential of another player regardless of which club they are about to sign for.

He needs to go back into rehab
